One

I wake up once again. Am I finally back home? Was that just a dream?

I sit up and look around, and find that I'm definitely not home. I'm inside a log cabin that's very warm and cozy, I'm even in a bed. I sit up and scan the room. I look all around, and then I look back to the bedside table, and am surprised when I see a small kid poker-faced and looking at me.

I yelp, and they yelp too.

"Ooff, sorry..." I say and get a good look at them. I nearly go "aww" from how cute they are: they look like they're about five years old, with short brown hair, yellowish skin, their eyes are nearly closed.

"Hey there," I say again. "What's your name?"

"I'm Frisk," the kid replies. "You're a human too?"

"Y-yeah," I say. "What is this place?"

"The Inn."

"No yeah, but the country or continent or world or whatever..."

"The Underground."

"Oh."

Silence for a few seconds.

"And where is that?" I ask.

"Underground."

No shit. I can't help but chuckle a little bit, this kid is pretty adorable.

"Um... Frisk? Do you happen to know how I got here?"

"No," Frisk says. "I only know that you were brought here all of a sudden."

"I see," I reply. What is going on?

"AH!" Somebody else says while coming into the room. I'm surprised when I see that it's another skeleton. "You're finally awake! Now, I can fulfill my mission!"

"H... huh?"

"I," he says, "the GREAT Papyrus, will take you to the castle!"

"But Sans said not to," Frisk says.

I jump slightly. "Sans?"

"Oh, yeah..." Papyrus says. "Sans, he's my brother."

"I met him," I say.

"Yeah, oh, darnit!" Papyrus says aloud. "Why did he have to tell me not to take you to the castle?"

"Wait, wait wait wait wait," I say. "Can somebody please tell me, calmly, what is going on?"

"Oh!" Papyrus says. "I assume you're confused. Well, there is a place known as Mt. Ebott, surely you must have fallen down. Although, it's normal if you don't have memory of that. Anyway, my brother found you fainted in the snow so he brought you here!"

Sans... even after fighting, he brought me to safety?

"And I, in order to impress Undyne and join the royal guard, shall capture you and take you to the castle! NYEH HEH HEH!"

"Who's Undyne?" I ask Frisk.

"I am!" I tough female goes in to stand next to Papyrus. "I guess I'd be sorry for barging in, but the truth is, I wanted to see the new human."

"Oh, yeah..." I say. "He did mention I'd be a big deal..."

"Of course you are, numbnut!" Undyne replies. "You dumb or what?"

"Chill..." I say.

"Fuhuhu! I'm just messin' around with ya!"

I chuckle nervously.

"Why don't you come on out and we'll show you around?" Papyrus looks directly at me in wonder. "Uh... your name is?"

"Clementine," I reply. "But call me Clem."

"Nyeh heh heh! Well, then, Clem! I, the GRRREAT Papyrus, shall escort you!"

"Alright, but please don't capture me."

"Darnit."

I get out of the bed and stand, as the kid, humanoid fish and skeleton stare closely at me. Papyrus hands out his arm to me trying to be a gentleman, but it's hard to see him that way. He's too adorable. Undyne and Frisk follow closely behind as we walk out of the inn out to a snowy town.

"Welcome," Papyrus says, "to Snowdin town!"

"It's really pretty," I say.

"Sure it is! Now, where do you want to go? I could take you to Grilby's, or my house, or even the-"

"Not the castle."

"Nyeh HEH HEH! It was worth a try! You look hungry, let's take you to eat something!"

"I really appreciate it, but I'm not that hungry. Can I go exploring first?"

"Are you sure? I could quickly cook something for you. I make the best spaghetti!"

I chuckle. "Alright, I guess it couldn't hurt."

"Alrighty then!"
