CLARY'S POV
The streets are empty. Everything laid perfectly into place, almost too perfect. Noah is asleep in my arms and Emily is looking down every alleyway and street. "Emily, take this," I hold out a seraph blade. She takes it bravely. "Only use it if you have to," I show her how to hold the blade. She turns six tomorrow. She shouldn't be living like this.
JACE'S POV
"Outside!" I order. Alec releases another arrow and it lands in the 'eye' of the demon. It screeches and growls, approaching at a faster pace. Izzy looks to me. Magnus performs a sequence of spells and the demon is held for a few seconds. Alec grabs Izzy by her waist and takes them outside. Magnus speed-walks outside after them. I throw a blade at the demon and shut the door in between us. Alec pushes the door closed and we both lean against it. "Go find Clary," Alec says. I nod and Izzy takes my place.
I run out of the building and onto the streets. Woah. I look down the allies. "Clary," I say. "Jace?" I hear her. She peeks out of an alley. "Where are the kids?" I ask her and pull her into my arms. "There," she points to a box and Emily jumps out, Noah in her arms. "Daddy," she walks carefully because of Noah. "Shhh," I coo and pull her into my arms and Noah goes to Clary. "So have you thought of why this is happening?" Clary asks. "Not quite, but I know that I have to get you all out of here," I say and tuck the seraph blade into my boot. Clary raises an eyebrow. "Where are the others?" she asks me. "They'll be here soon," I promise and move Emily to my hip.
I apologize for taking sooooo long to update my babies. I love you all so so much and I am super sorry for the short chapter. I have so much going on and I really can't find time to write.
We're at 1K! This is amazing. To be honest I started this book so so long ago and to see it come this far just tears me up. I love you and I'll try to update again❤️.
