Behind Closed Doors

Chapter 3

I went to run after Zayn when someone stopped me.

I turned around to see a tear-stained Perrie holding my arm.

"Just give him time," She urged me, "He'll come around eventually. I'll talk to him later, and we will fix this."

I contemplated breaking free of her grasp and running after him anyways, but I decided against it.

"You're right," I sighed, "I just don't know what to do anymore. This secret is ruining everyone else's lives too, and I just want everyone to be happy."

"Harry," She started, "We understand.

We understand that this is a process. We know that this isn't going to be easy, but we are willing to give up some things for you and Louis to be happy. You just have to give Zayn a little time. You know how sensitive he is, and this engagement was a shock to him."

"But doesn't he want it? Doesn't he love you?" I asked her.

"He wanted it to be real," She replied softly as she looked down, "I love him, and I know he loves me too. But, it's just a little too soon for both of us."

I looked down at my hands as my vision stared to blur, "If I would've known..." I started.

"You can't change who you are, Harry," She interrupted. "You are who you are. You said it yourself 'I can't change.' So why are you trying to?"

"Because this is making everyone else's lives harder!" I said as I raised my voice.

"We love you. And we are willing to do what it takes for your happiness," She said as she clenched her jaw.

"I am a big boy! I can handle myself! You all don't need to cover for me anymore, I have it under control!" I was yelling now.

"Well, we don't really have a choice, Harry. Now do we?" She said with tears in her eyes, "I'm going to go talk to Zayn. When you figure out what you want, you know where to find me."

She walked out of the trailer and slammed the door.

I sat on the couch with tears in my eyes, going over the events from today.

First, Louis, now Zayn and Perrie.... I just need to calm down and do damage control tomorrow.
