Golly Old Jolly

CAUTION: This is a filler chapter. Hah. Sorry.

I had to write a Christmas song. Yaeh? (It's a combination of yay and meh.) Normally, I liked writing Christmas songs, much Christmas songs were nowadays becoming pretty much the same things repeating.

I decided to type the lyrics on the computer. If I got the melody down first, The melody wouldn't match with any of the lyrics I would come up with. Needless to say, lesson learned.

I left the title blank. You can't really know what the song is about before you even write it. That's pure writer sacrilege. (A/N: I actually wrote a title but now I'm going to change it. Oh well.)

Beginning a song just right was pretty hard. Writing a song was pretty hard. Science s pretty hard.

Wait, what? Back to the subject.

I had to say, writing a song came pretty easily to me. (My name was Melody, for goodness' sake!) I could experience writer's block with an essay or literature, but writing a song took only about 15-20 ish minutes. After that I would just keep on playing my new song for hours because I liked it, and then would make small changes or corrections during it.

I could always start for a reason why Christmas is cold. Well, not exactly why, but ugh. I ruined the description. I'll just write down what I wrote.

The weather is getting cold. (Perfect, one line. Umm.. maybe like this?)

Hot cocoa for the young... and old! (Yes, bonus points for rhyming!)

What should I write for the third line? Umm.. Flu season has come, gone, and... Wait. That's not going to work. Nobody likes flu season.

Use the overused ones. Eggnog? No, I used cocoa already. I know, mistletoe!

Watch people go under the mistletoe. (Not in a perverted sense, though.)

Afterwards my song came to me pretty quickly.

  Santa Claus is coming soon,

So let's get jolly with a Christmas tun,

And feel the Christmas in the air.

  Snowflakes everywhere!

From my boots to my frozen hair!

Getting ready for snowball fights and forts.

But do you see the happy in the air?

  Christmas jolly spreading everywhere.

Happiness, love, and golly old jolly.

  Red, green, and snow!

Now for the ending part. It needs something sad to balance out the golly old jolly. (I laughed after writing that one.) I know!

But did you know I left a present,

  Under the tree,

  It reminded me,

Of the things we used to be.

  Merry Christmas!

Whew. Done. Then I worked out the melody and chords, pretty easily.

It turned out cooler than I thought it would be. Oh well.

Hey guys!

To explain this "chapter" to you, you should know that I've played what.. eight? nine? years of piano?

And violn for 5 years.

My mom is amazing at singing, and so is my grandma, so I'm guessing music runs in the family.

I'm a student/writer/singer/pianist/violnist/soccer(ist?)/songwriter/missionary. (See if you can say that it one breath.)

Basically why I wrote this book is, I wanted to write something I knew about. I knew about music, how to write a song, and etc., 'cause my previous book (I Noah You) failed epiclly. (If that's a word.)

  And I'm sick. I can't talk. Ugh.

Pretty much all the lyrics you will find in this book are from silly songs I've written, but no: You're not allowed to use any of them to claim as yours. It's illegal and you will receive copyright damage. (More like copycat damage, but yeah.)

I'm sorry if this was horrible, but as mentioned, I'm sick.

And probably will be saying Merry Christmas to you right now, since I'm probably going to be free from exams right after Christmas.

Merry Christmas you guys! Thanks for reading!

P.S. The song's title is Merry Christmas. I forgot to write that. Oh well.
