TAKAO KAZUNARI ONE SHOT

PART TWO

“Normally, when people try to sing, the weather gets bad.

But when it’s him, it’s the opposite.

The clouds part and it stops raining.”

She could’ve sworn she’ve heard that  many times from her classmates.

She doesn’t know if they’re exaggerating or not because she have never heard him once. Well, sometimes when he’s not with Midorima, which is rare, she would catch him humming to himself as he walks , hands on the back of his head. And then he would stop and falter for a moment whenever he figures out that he was seen and then he would walk again in silence as if nothing happened.

And now there he is, singing with all his might as she watched three feet apart. Beneath her screaming classmates, cheering for him, she admired his voice. She wanted to join her classmates but she couldn’t move, she was too overwhelmed.

No, he wasn’t a belter or some annoying shit like that. His voice was raw and real. He was singing some kind of post hardcore song. It was like a mini- rock concert in the karaoke room. It was refreshing for her because she wasn’t into rock.

Another reason to like him huh

She smiled at the thought.

After his ground breaking performance, their classmates roared and approached him.

That’s Takao-kun for you!

Waaah~ Takao-kun you’re amazing!

Silently sipping iced tea, she didn’t bother joining them because she wasn’t that close to Takao, she got a good view of his smile from where she sat though.

She lost track of the time and before she knew it, she was already at the train with Takao. The train wasn’t packed but she felt suffocated. She stared blankly at her trembling hands, too nervous to make a movement while Takao’s shoulder rested closely  beside hers.

“Oi, I’ll take you home.” Takao grabbed her hand upon leaving the karaoke place.

She had no time to react and was dragged away by him while his other hand waved back to their classmates.

How did he knew that she lived an hour away from school?

The tiny voice in the back of her mind screams stalker! But nonetheless, she was happy.

The train reminded of her stop and they got off without saying anything to each other and the remaining five minute walk to her house was the longest five minutes she have experienced. It was awkward. Takao tried to open conversations but she didn’t know how to continue. She wanted to slap herself for not taking this chance to get close to him.

Mom. It was then that she remembered that she came home late. Takao noticed her shoulders tense and offered to help her explain everything to her mom.

As she opened the door, Takao behind her, knit eyebrows welcomed them.

“Where have you been? Do you have any idea what time it is?” Her mom said in anger, both hands on her hips.
