Danielle And The Apocalypse

Ryan!

Danielle's POV

I shake me head from my thought of something bad happening and walk out of the cave to get ready to hunt for some food with Luke. Taylah Maddie and Mia had insisted that we went together alone. It reminded me of primary school, they were always pushing us two to go together. I disagreed because they needed to be protected and I wanted to go with them to make sure they were, but they still said no and made us go together anyway.

Ryan had previously gone out to get a head start on hunting, saying it would mean we had I higher chance of getting food, Luke asked to go with him but Ryan said

"No, I'll be fine I can handle myself"

I had a really bad feeling in my stomach but just thought I was hungry.

We had hunted a random chicken earlier and successfully gotten it and taken it back to the cave.

"You ok you've been really quiet?" Luke asked, worry present in his tone.

"I'm fine, I just have a bad feeling about today" I reply,

"Really, me too..." He trails off looking to the side.

"Aaaaaah!" We hear a blood curdling scream.

"What the hell was that!?" I yell
"I don't- Ryan!" He runs off into the forest.
"Luke!!" I scream after him.
We run through the forest, suddenly we bump into a group of people. It was Taylah Maddie and Mia.

Ryan's POV

I'm currently hunting for food, I wanted to go alone it's quicker and gives us more of a chance of getting food. I spin as I hear something behind me I see a figure.

"Hey Luke, I thou-" the figure suddenly attacked me and I dropped to the ground.

"Aaaaaah!!!" I scream as it bites me again and again.

Danielle's POV

"We heard a scream!" Taylah yells. I hold Luke back to stop him from running, I see tears streaming down his face.

"It was Ryan we have to find him!!" Luke screams and breaks free from my grip. We all run after him, I'm trying not to cry as I run.

We jump over obstacles that are in our way and keep running until we see a figure lying down with another standing over it, both of them were bloodied.

My shaking hands grab my knife under my shirt.

I knew something was going to happen, I could have stopped it!!! I scream inside my head

I het a glimpse of the person lying on the ground, it was Ryan.

I scream, anger, sadness and regret fill my body as tears run down my face and I pull my knife out and attack the second figure.

Someone holds me back and screams my name.

"Danielle! You need to calm down!" He yells into my ear

I  ignore him and break free from his grip and run to the zombie that killed Ryan.
I hold my knife and get ready to stab it, I heard my name being screamed behind me as I am thrown to the floor, I struggle under its grip and final I break free as someone tackles it, I look to See that it's Luke. He is now on the ground with the zombie on top of him.

I run over and stab it in the back, it falls to the side and I help Luke up. He is still crying, I look over at Ryan's corpse to see it isn't on the ground where it was before, instead it was standing and walking slowly over to  Taylah, Maddie and Mia.

Luke sees this and gets the gun from out of my belt, his hands are shaking, he was about to shoot his best friend.
But if he shot it wouldn't be accurate and would probably hit one of the girls, I notice this and grab his arm. We need to be quick before 'Ryan' gets to my friends.

"I'll handle it...." I tell him and am about to run when he grabs my wrist and pulls me back to him.  The next thing I know my lips are on his and he is kissing me.

"We'll do it together" his voice trembles slightly.

I nod and we run over to 'Ryan'  holding hands we stab him in the back and he drops to the ground. I start crying just like everyone else, I fall to my knees and hold my head.

We are all crying and hugging each other in a group.

"Come on, w-we have to go..." I successfully say to them in between my sobs.

We walk back to the cave, all of our cheeks stained with tears.

I could have saved him..... I could have but I didn't......I knew something bad was going to happen so why didn't I do anything!?!?!!!

I was beating myself up over it.

As if reading my mind Luke said "it's not your fault I had the same feeling, stop beating yourself up over it"

"B-but I could have done something!" I raised my voice shocking him, he looked down. Realising that I just yelled at him I try to apologise

"Luke I-I--"
He pulls me into a hug wrapping his arms around me tightly

"Don't be mad, don't cry, you look prettier when you are smiling" he tells me
I hug him back, suddenly feeling tired I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

Luke's POV

She fell asleep as I hold her in my arms.

I wonder what she thought of the kiss.... I think as I pick her up and carry her to her sleeping bag,
She looks really peaceful when she sleeps......especially compared to what she was like today...

I place her down and pull the sleeping bad over her. I start to walk away but as soon as I do I feel someone tugging at my shirt, I turn and see Danielle awake sitting up

"Stay with me....." She says half asleep, with out thinking I get under the sleeping bag with her and hug her. She puts her head to my chest. I soon hear her breathing even out, signalling me that she is asleep. I pull her closer and close my eyes.
