It had been a terrible experience visiting that house. Blackened walls, grey windows and scratched parquet. Several mattresses, dirty and ruined, were scattered around. There was dust everywhere and the faint sunlight was barely entering the place.

Kin decided to go there with Carrie, the girl they saved the night before. She woke up early that morning and was silent until she asked him if he could bring her to that house again. She wanted to get back her belongings.

Carrie explained that they found her when she was just seventeen and took her in with lies and promises. That was how they let the other girls in. They were usually pretty and very young. It was a disgusting reality, but they blackmailed them and they couldn't get out of the prison. That was how the girls called their life: the prison.

-"I feel sorry for myself most of the times...but what can I do? I've been stupid and naive back then..." she was saying, grabbing her bag and coat.

-"Do you come here only with that one on?" Kin asked.

She nodded and turned a bit red. She got used to the situation within the people sharing the same life, but Kin had no idea. It had been nice of him to save her, but he definitely wasn't able to understand.

On the other hand, Kin didn't know what to say about that subject. He felt absolutely ignorant and ungrateful too. He had a perfect life compared to Carrie, but he couldn't stop thinking that his was so boring, while hers had at least some thrill. He shook his head, it was so immature and arrogant of him.

They left the abandoned house after vising the living room. There were poles on one side, where they were forced to dance, explained Carrie, and armchairs in front of them. Kin couldn't explain why Carrie brought him there. They might have gone out after picking up her stuff, but she wanted to show him the room. It was like actually making it real and not just some dream they lived the night before.

Carrie said she had to go and that he shouldn't have to worry about her from that moment on. He wanted to ask about the girl in his room and the key she gave him so badly that he began to breathe heavy. Carrie noticed it and put her hand on his shoulder.

-"Don't feel responsible for me, it's useless. It's my life and I should accept it." she said.

-"You could change it, if you wanted..." he murmured, holding his tongue.

It was a secret and he was told not to speak to anybody about it. Plus, if he really wanted to break the promise, he should have done it with Rosalind. He owed it to her.

-"You are such a nice guy, Kin. I might change my mind about men thanks to you."

Like that, she was gone.

Rosalind was so angry at him the moment he entered the shop. She forced him to go outside again and she silently scolded him. She said she wanted to ask so many things to the girl and that he had been so stupid to let her leave like that. Kin explained that he wasn't able to stop her, that she was resolved to go, but Rosalind didn't seem to understand. She was so stubborn that she walked away furiously, leaving him outside the shop.
