(Picture of Gabe)
As soon as the shot was fired, I fell to my knees crying. No matter how many times I tell myself it had too be done, I can't believe it.I just shot a 5 year old girl.
The boy looked up at me, avoiding the scene in front of us. Air and Emit ran in, but only put a hand on my shoulder when the saw the girl. Wiping my eyes(and making sure there was no blood on them) I stood up. Grabbing the boys for arm gently, I walked to one of the other stores, carefully avoiding the dead bodies around in front of the store, who's name was ironically the Happy Place Toy Shop.
Soon i reach a bath and body works store and wonder if maybe the zeds would come in there. Walking in, I sit the boy down by the register and walk into the back through the employees only door.
Looking around, I find a small white cloth and grab it, walking back to the boy. Kneeling, I wipe the blood of of his cheeks and arms, making sure he's not bit, even though he told me he wasn't.
"What's your name?" I ask, not recognizing my raspy voice. "G-Gabe." He whispered. My only response is a nod as I stand up to see Erin staring at my with sadness. Walking into the back again, I put the cloth down and sit down, closing my eyes.
We're all just like the cloth. We start out clean, but we always end up messed up, blood covered, and bitten.
Zamilas pov
After killing off the zombies, I quickly try the door, glad that it was unlocked. The one-room building was messy, as if they had left in a rush, which I guess they kind of did.
Looking around, I find some food that my friends had not gotten to and grab it, putting it in my leather bag. Exiting, I make sure the last zombie is dead before heading strait. Walking strait into a town.
Shrugging, I look around for a house that I can to a garage easily, which I quickly found. Slinking through that back yard of the blue home, I quickly reach the garage, and what I wanted.
Grabbing the ladder, I rush to the side of the house and put it so I can climb to the top of the house. Putting rocks by the end of the ladder so it won't fall, I climb up to the ruff. Shoving the ladder with my foot, I stand up, and run to the edge of the ruff.
And jump to the next.
Now, you may think I'm crazy, but think about it. All the zombies will be on the ground, wail I'm up on the ruff, a place they can't get to.
Soon I reach the top of a mall, seeing dead bodies loitered around the entrance. Normally, I would shutter at the mere though of dead bodies, let alone looking at them. But now? They made me smile. It meant that there probably would not be any zombies in there, and if there's a group, I could easily hide and steal food and clothing at the same time.
Doing the same thing I did in the bus on the first day of the infection, I used windows as places to put my hands and feet, quickly climbing down. Pistol loaded, I looked around until I was sure I was alone out hear, I went it.
The smell was the first thing to hit me, then the bodies. All had been killed by a head shot, so these people were obviously smart. Walking down the halls, the only sound were my boots hitting the floor. Looking around, I found I toy store with a small body at the glass doors.
My feet slowly moved towards the body, soon seeing it as a small child, a girl. A sat down next to her, staring at her blue open eyes, and tried to close them. She must have been dead for a while, since her eye lids were stiff.
This girl had curly brown hair and freckles covering her cheeks and nose. A single bite mark settled on her ankle, signaling that whoever did this had done it for a reason. Because the head wound was the same as the others, I guessed the same person that had killed the zombies around hear killed the girl.
I could just see her running to her mum and dad, a smile curled on her chubby face as she jumped into her dads hands after the first day of school. Then again, maybe that never happen, and she had been abused or was a foster child. All never now, but I'm glad I won't. It walls just make seeing her like this harder.
Standing up, I quickly left the toy store, chuckling slightly at the name. I reached I female bathroom and entered, walking into a stall to go to the bathroom. Walking back out, I looked in the bathroom mirror. Looking at the person in the reflection startled me.
My normal bright brown/black eyes were now I dull amber red color, only I small fraction of life they used to have. My bright red hair was in knots, it lazily put into a low ponytail. My skin was deathly pale, and my pink lips were super chapped. Reaching into my bad, I found some peach chapstick I had found at a gas station around the time I moved into the bland house I called home for a month.
Rubbing a good coating on my lips, I put it away and left the room, pulling my teal turtleneck higher on my neck.
Walking around the mall I find a bath and body works and hear the dull sound I haven't heard in a month. Voices.
Walking in slowly, I walk around till I see the people I thought I'd never see again.
Gasping, I draw the attention of Erin and Emit.
They both pull out a gun, probably a pistol and riffle, and point it at me before going wide eyed. I step out from behind the cart of perfume and stare at them "I thought you were dead when I found the metal home." I whisper, surprised they were able to hear. Erin jumps up to hug me but I jump back, shaking.
"Don't touch me." I growl at her before trying to calm myself. I new what happen when I got to angry. I turned full zombie and attacked until there was nothing left of my victim and come to again.
I finally realize that my eyes are covered by my bangs and brush them out of the way, earring I gasp from both people I front of me. "It happened the day after I left. I found a place about an hour away and settled in. I woke up the next day with both eyes like this, but still a vegetarian." I tell them.
I hear a gasp behind me and turn around, gun ready before seeing Jayson. He runs towards me before stoping short after seeing my eyes. A boy walks out slowly I fall to the floor, a sob racking my body as I recognize the boy. "Y-your sister-" was all o could get out before I was consumed by sobs.
The reason: it made me think of the one person I had bottled away and spent nights crying over.
Isabella.
