Zamilas pov
It's been one month since I was banished from the metal home, and I'm still alive.i just don't know how though. Both my eye are red, I'm on my own with zombies wondering the area, and I STILL don't know if my parents are ok.
Iv been thinking of them a lot lately, wondering if there ok or succumbed to the undead.
The thing is, I'm still not quite sure how I got infected. I had no cuts, I did not get and zombie blood in my mouth or eyes, and was not bit. I can only say I might the scratch mark on my side that caused it. Wail we were fighting before those strange people came (which I still don't know who they are) I must have gotten clawed at and that infected me.
But still dose not answer one question.
Why am I not undead, or dead in general?
You see if studying the zombies a lot more now that there right I front of me and I notice that some of the people the bite and infect, not all survive. Some die and stay dead, and some die and return as undead monsters.
Another thing I noticed is that they never really get closer then five feet away from me. It's strange, but I keep thinking back to what Jayson said about me maybe being immune, and they know that. Maybe I'm half dead half living? Though I'm pretty sure that's the definition of zombie. Still it's weird.
Anyway, back to the present!
I'm currently walking back in the direction of the metal house with a bad full of supplies. It's the first time I've done this, but I want to know if there still there, and alive.
I soon reach the metal house, but there's one thing I did not expect.
I did not expect to find it surrounded by the undead.
Jaysons pov
I stop running to take a breath, looking next to me to see Air. We are currently running from the home we've known for the past month. You see, Emit still wondered by all the time, and he attracted a bunch of zombies.
"Damn it Emit, you just had to stay, didn't you?" Growls Erin. Did I mention he's with us right now?
Emit glared at her before bringing up the unwanted topic. "If Zamila had not hid being infected from us, I never would have kicked her out since I would have shot her and I would not have been kicked out by you. So blame it on that bitch."
Erin's eyes fill with tears, and I know she wants to kill him, but she stays rooted to the spot. "Guys, we should get going. We're still to close to the safe house." I say. Before they can say anything a loud shout echoes from behind us. "FUCK!"
We all go wide-eyed, and look behind us only to hear gun shots ring out through the air, and be just close enough to see a bunch of zeds start falling to the ground, there brains shooting out from the other side of there head. The zeds start wondering toward whoever started shooting, and another curse word rings through the air. Before I can see where the person is, Emit is dragging me and Air away.
"Why don't we go save them?" Air asks Emit. "Because there could be more, and you never know there intentions." He replies. "But what if there in trouble?" She questions. "Look, do you really want another person in our group?" He reasons with her. "They could be bad news, and could drag us to our graves, purposely or not. Do you really want that?"
"I have to agree with him there." I sigh. Soon we reach a mall looking place, and Emit signals to go in. Pistols at ready, along with Emits rifle, we head in, the rotting stench of decaying flesh the first thing that hits us, the second the zeds.
Gun shots ring through the air as we shoot every undead being in sight, then moving the m to the entrance so they don't get on the way of heading inside farther.
"I go right , Air goes left, and you go straight. Ok?" Whispers Emit. Air nods and I just walk forwards, making sure my magazine is full of ammo. I soon find a whole bunch of zeds gathering around a store, moaning and banging on the glass doors so hard I'm surprised they haven't broken. The question is why they are there.
I shot two zombies in the head, and the rest come at me, making me relies just how many there are.
I mutter a string of curse words under my breath as I start shouting at them, soon killing them all, and rush into the shop. "Hello?" I call out. "Help me. Please." I small voice cries. Looking around, I find I small boy, maybe 10, sitting down in the corner, blood covering his shirt. "Are you bit?" I ask gently. He looks down at his shirt before looking back up at me, hope clear in his eyes, at the same time sadness and fear. "I-it's my moms." His voice cracks as tears escape his green eyes. He stands up shakily and walk towards me.
"Are you hurt?" I ask as soon as he's standing in front of me. "No, but my little sisters ankle might be sprained." He whispers. "Is she here? Can she come out?" I ask. He nods, and A girl that looks about five comes out, and I just about break into tears when I notice bite marks on her ankle and her unusually pale skin with sunken eyes.
I get on my knee, putting my hand on the boys cheek. "You need to listen to me, and can not, no matter what, yell or scream." I tell him softly. His eyes go wide but he listens to me any way. "Your sisters ankle is not broken, it's......... Bitten." I whisper, tears falling down my face as I finish the simple yet most painful sentence a child should hear.
He looks like he wants to scream I'm wrong, but looks at his sisters ankle, and finally sees the marks that are the reason I do what I do next.
I get up so I'm standing properly and tell the boy, "turn around and cover your ears. And, I'm sorry." He seems to now what I'm about to do and nods before turning around and putting his hands on his ears. I take a deep breath and look at the girl, who doesn't seem to no what's about to happen.
Closing my eyes and taking in another deep breath, I pull the trigger.
