(Wanda's POV)

I shifted in my seat on the plane, tapping my foot, and wringing my hands through my hair. I was never the most patient person. Pietro however was worse, much worse. He was randomly speeding across the cabin, mindlessly pacing and observing. Sam, Tony and Steve had just left, making their way into the bunker to back up Natasha and Bucky. I felt Vision sit down next to me, rubbing my back in an attempt to calm me. I murmured a small thanks, Rubbing my hands on my thighs, they tremor with nerves, and the burning sensation of my magic. He grabbed my hands in both of his.

Relax.

I couldn't form a response. I couldn't focus on anything. Natasha's words reverberated in my brain. 'I could say the same to you'. She said. She thought that I was in love.

But with who?

I thought of the people in my life. Of course I love Pietro. I love Clint as the father I was missing in my life. I love Natasha like a sister. I love all my Avenger teammates like family.

I looked down at my hands, the pale flesh surrounded by bright vibranium. Vision... She thinks I love Vision... Do I?...

Of course, I love all my teammates ... But this is different... Right?

Suddenly, static sounded in my comms, and our Captain's voice sounded in my ears. "His men have all been taken out, we cut security feed, so he shouldn't know what's going on. It's up to you guys now." He said calmly.

We immediately kept to our feet, eager to prove our worth in battle. We scampered quickly through the thick powdery snow, hurrying to the Bunker where List had been hidden. I shuddered at the thought of that man, his twisted interest in extra-ordinary mutations, and his new abilities. Before we came here, Tony had been working with a sample of my blood he took when I passed out. He discovered the exactness of List's abilities: he could invoke the feeling of hysteria and fear, and he could emit toxins through touch, which could be deadly with enough exposure. He didn't have time to formulate a cure yet- that wasn't his area of expertise- but he did say we should keep our distance in order to defeat him.

When we arrived at the bunker, Nat and Bucky lead us to where List was working, alone, several floors down. It was inevitable that the malicious Doctor would know we were here, but it was a risk we were willing to take in order to defeat him. The cold concrete walls surrounded us, becoming almost claustrophobic as we descended. My hands were still shaking with anticipation...Or fear. I couldn't tell which.

Finally, we reached the floor where List was hiding. Bucky and Nat retreated to wait with the rest of the team, serving as backup. I pushed open the thick metal door with my powers, wrapping the scarlet waves around it and sending it flying of its hinges. The three of us barged into the room, in battle stances and readied positions. I scanned the room quickly, searching for my target, but the room seemed empty. I moved slowly now, a skilled hunter stalking its prey... Or so I thought. I was wrong. As hands grabbed me from behind, clasping one hand on my mouth and the other around my waist, I realized I was the prey.

I could feel the toxins fill my body, the heavy feeling of panic pressed down on my chest, nearly suffocating me. In a hasty movement I sent my scarlet magic through my body and into his. He doubled over in pain, flying back a short distance. I spun around to meet him, Pietro and Vision standing on either side of me. As he returned himself to a standing position, he noticed the Vision. He looked absolutely fascinated by him. I instinctively moved closer to Vision, palms glowing and eyes narrowed at the doctor, ready to protect him at any moment.

" I can feel its presence: the mind stone, the key to my life's work. It's here," he pointed to Vision. "You have it, and I need it. To stabilize my powers, I need the infinite power the Stone possesses."

"Not going to happen." I practically growled at List when he took a step towards Vision.

"You don't understand, I need this. I need to control my powers." He insisted darkly.

I sent a wave of scarlet at him, entering his mind from afar. I had to work quickly, so I immediately began to wrap my magic around his consciousness and applied pressure. He cried out in pain. I signaled Pietro, and he quickly raced around the room carefully destroying the contents of the labs, I even noticed him pouring water over journals and breaking test tubes and microscopes. Dr. List was distraught, his cries became louder at the sight of his destroyed work. He was on his knees, clutching his head.

"You little-" Pietro kicked him before he could finish whatever insult he was going to throw at us.

I left his mind, knowing it wouldn't be enough to stop him. He staggered to his feet, breath heaving and anger surging. I shook out my hands, gazing down at my glowing palms.

Suddenly List approached me, attaching an object to my forehead, a strange but familiar feeling took over my body: electricity.

It was a device similar to the one Clint used on me when I was with Ultron. I felt every muscle in my body tense and coil to the point where I was shaking intensely. I couldn't form any coherent thoughts, only stand, overwhelmed with panic and anxious energy. Then the pain began, I couldn't make any noise, and my breath came in short gasps.

"See how it feels?!" He asked viciously. My vision blurred, I couldn't see anything around me. I heard a loud sound, followed by more similar sounds, coming faster. I recognized the sound as people hitting each other. The device was removed from my forehead, and I collapsed into someone's arms. I heard a sharp metallic noise that rose in pitch and volume.

Then everything went black, and I passed out.
