(Wanda's POV)
I shifted nervously in my seat on the Quinjet as we approached the bunker in Siberia. Pietro and Natasha sat next to me, and across the cabin was Vision. As usual, Vision and I were locked in one of our stares, the strangely usual moments of our deep mental connection.
What is this feeling? I wondered to him.
I am unsure, Wanda. But I assume it came from the Mind Stone- after all it did give you your abilities.
Yeah... I guess so. It's strange.
Agreed.
We didn't speak for the rest of the flight. Just sat there in silence with the rest of the team. Everyone was brimming with adrenaline, I could feel it dripping off their subconscious's and filling the air in the cabin of the plane. We were all eager to put an end to Dr. List. I found myself unknowingly focusing my sight on a small point in the cabin, over in the corner near the cargo hold.
I couldn't keep my mind from drifting off into the painful memories of my days of my imprisonment.
The dragged me down the cold steel hall, my bare feet scraped against the cold pavement, and the dull grey nightgown they provided me with did nothing to protect me from the cold. I had no idea where they were keeping my brother, and it was driving me insane, I had no way of knowing if he was alive. They brought me to the chamber where they spent hours prodding me with needles, collecting samples, and running strange test.
I was seriously doubting their incentive. They promised me this would help me protect my country. They lied. Nothing had happened since they began, I was still completely normal. Special abilities they had hoped for had yet to make an appearance.
This was the day that would change.
They roughly placed me onto the cold hard metal table. I was not strapped down, but I hadn't the strength to move. The face I had grown to hate loomed over me. Dr. List. He had overseen every test, conducted every study, and masterminded every torture. He reported to Stryker, but List was the one who I truly loathed.
List held the syringe over me, so I could see it. He tested it, squirting some of the amber liquid on me. I shuddered at the thought of the time to come. He found the vein in my arm, piercing it with the needle and tainting my bloodstream with the contents of the vial. A surge of energy coursed through me, filling my lungs and veins and overloading my system. I felt my chest heave with the influx of power and a strange burning sensation began to flood my neurons. Dr. List pressed a strange golden staff to my temple and I felt a harsh cold grip my brain. I held my hands to my head, letting out a scream am of agony. Suddenly, of their own accord my arms flew out to either side of me, and could feel the heat inside of me pooling in my palms before shooting out of my hands in scarlet torrents. I cried out in horror at the sight of my new abilities, the idea of them once seemed beautiful, but as medical supplies flew about the room of my accord I panicked at the idea that I may be a monster.
Then the door burst open, a silvery blur blur flashing before my eyes. The blur stopped in front of me, clasping my shoulders.
It was Pietro.
"Wanda! Stop!" He pleaded. The first thing I noticed about him was his hair, not only had his usual brown curls grown out exceptionally long, but a few streaks had turned silver.
"Help me, Pietro!" I cried. Suddenly, a strange feeling rushed through me as our minds connected. This was the first time I exhibited the strange mental capacities of my abilities. Pietro also had the ability to reciprocate our mental connection. Everything around us stopped, and we embraced each other for the first time in months. As I opened my eyes and looked over his shoulder I caught a glimpse of my eyes in a mirror. They were glowing red.
---
My eyes were glowing red, and I gasped as my flashback ended. Pietro grabbed my hand, pulling me back to reality.
"Are you okay, Wanda?" His homely Sokovian accent was laced with worry.
"Yeah, just thinking- remembering, really." I said, and moved my gaze to the floor, averting the stares of the other Avengers.
Surprisingly, I felt Natasha touch my back soothingly. "I know what that's like." She assured with a sad smile. "We all do." I looked up and saw my teammates glumly nod their affirmation. All except Vision, who seemed slightly confused by the interaction.
Sam spoke gently "Wanda, if you ever need someone to talk to, you can come to me- that was my job with the V.A." He said empathetically.
"You can come to any of us, really." Tony, of all people, confirmed.
"Thank you. All of you." I breathed gratefully. And Natasha pulled me in for a gentle hug. I could see a few surprised looks at the assassin's show of affection, but Bucky looked completely different from the rest. He had a look of knowing and adoration for the redhead.
"You two are so adorable." I mused quietly so only she could hear. "You're so in love."
"I could say the same to you." She said with a smirk. I was about to protest, and inquire as to her meaning. But before I could she sent me a knowing, silencing look, and turned her gaze away from me.
What did she mean I was in love?

The rest of the ride was filled with quiet chatter: going over strategies and plans, determining the best possible exit strategy in case of emergency, and determining the best way to take down Dr. List. Steve spoke with certainty serving his duty as our leader, calmly leading us into battle and into chaos. "Wanda, Pietro and Vision you should be the ones to fight Dr. List." He instructed. "They have the most experience with the magical abilities of the Mind Stone. Which means, they should hang back when we first infiltrate the bunker. Natasha and Bucky will lead the infiltration, as quietly as they can, and then Sam, Tony and I will follow, and clear out the rest of his men. Then, once we signal, you guys-" He pointed to the three of us. "Will come in and take him down once and for all... Clint will stay with the plane, so we can get back home as quickly as possible... I can't wait to get back to America." He murmured under his breath. I gave a small laugh at the irony of his statement.
"Of course you can't." Tony teased lightly.
I felt the plane move beneath us as it landed, already with the invisibility cloak on. The Quinjet landed softly in the thick snow, and as Clint turned the engine off quiet took hold. A nervous quiet of apprehension for the mission. I saw Natasha and Bucky readying themselves with countless weapons, placing them in various holsters and sneaking glances at each other the whole time. I wondered if anyone else had noticed the start of their relationship yet.
"Just like the old times." Bucky said as he slung a sniper rifle around his shoulder, and stuffed two handguns in his holsters with his pocket knife.
"Just like old times." She echoed as they left the plane, and moved together through the snow. With the whirling blizzard around them, they became dark blurs surrounded by whirling flecks of white as they faded out of our sight.
The journey is over, the mission begins. Now... we wait.
