You. Reading this right now. I see you. Watching the movie and wanting to write a fic, then feeling like book fans will hate your fic because it's movie based. But I am here to tell you to not be afraid to make that wonderful movie fic you wanna make.
This chapter I'm going to help you beautiful movie fans understand some things about the books that the movies glossed over to help you get a better understanding!

First thing I think everyone should know is the children's real ages. If you didn't know, the children looked a lot older/younger than in the movie and the only characters who truly looked their ages were Jacob, Emma, Claire, and Horace!

So here we go!
Olive: She's supposed to look 8/9 and is actually 75 and a half
Enoch: Supposed to look 13/14 and is either 117 or 118
Horace: Should look 14/15 and is actually 83
Bronwyn: Should look around 16 and I forgot if they said her age range but sure it's somewhere between 65-95
Claire: Should look 5/6 and is actually the youngest of the peculiars (other than Jacob of course)
Millard: Should look about 16 and is actually 87
Emma: Should look about 16 and is in her 80s
Hugh: Should look 17 and his age range I think is in the 70s (correct me if I'm wrong!)
Fiona: I believe Fiona is in the same boat as Hugh (again, correct me if I'm wrong!)

These definitions come from the Glossary of Peculiar Terms in the front of the third book "Library of Souls"

If you're making a book in a different loop then Miss. Peregrine's make sure to set your exact date. Also all ymbrnes are named after the bird they can transform into! For example: Alma LeFay Peregrine is named after the peregrine bird she can transform into
Hollows can't usually enter loops, so if your story is set post Abe/pre Jacob don't have hollows bursting into the loop. Wights, though, can enter loops.
Grimmbears are necessary
To date, the only known living peculiar who can see the hollows is Jacob Portman. And before him Abraham Portman (yes I know I said that before but it's important)
