[Avery]

I woke up shivering. Looking down I noticed that I was still wearing the hoodie that Nick gave me last night, I was still in my dress that had stains all over it. I looked around and noticed that he had disappeared. I frowned, I very well knew that neither one of us were drunk.

Did last night mean nothing to him? I know nothing happened but surely he wouldn't spend his evening in a new town with a random girl, kiss her and then leave?

I cursed myself as I rubbed my eyes, forgetting I was wearing make - up. Now my eyeliner was smudged, then again, the fact that I fell asleep with it on; meant that I probably looked like a panda anyway.

Looking around again, I noticed my purse was next to me. Opening it up, I grab my phone. It was dead. Great. My parents, were probably going to kill me.

Even though, I am nineteen, I still have to keep them up to date with where I am so that they don't worry about me. I smiled as I remembered that I was still wearing my watch. 9:00 am. It was so early. I wondered how hungover Megan was going to be. I also wondered what time the party ended last night. Grabbing my things, I get up of the patio and head inside.

Before I head home, I thought I should make some breakfast for Megan and I, and for whoever crashed over last night. As soon as I get inside I place my things on the kitchen table. I walk over to the fridge to see what food Megan had. This place was like a second home to me, so I pretty much knew where everything was kept. A fried breakfast sounded good to me and I knew that Megs would wake up as soon as as she smelt food.

"Avery?" Speak of the devil. I turn round and as soon as I see her, I smirk. "Pleaseee, don't say anything Ave? My head is pounding and I feel like crap." I continue to smirk as she grips onto the side of her head. Taking in her appearance, I realise that is why I do not drink as much as she does although I probably look just as bad; bearing in mind I fell asleep outside. Her long mousy blonde hair was all tangled, she was still wearing the same clothes she wore last night, although she had taken all her make - up off.

"Okay, Megs. I won't. Here." I begin to say as I reach up to the cupboard that was above me, grabbing some paracetamol and a glass of water. "This will help." I finish as I place it onto the table for her to grab.

"Thank you." She replies quietly sitting down to take the tablets. As soon as she finishes, she looks up at me with a questioning look. "What happened to you?" She asks as I check the eggs and bacon in the saucepan.

"What do you mean?" I question quickly turning around to her. I loved to cook.

"I mean, you disappeared before the fireworks. Where did you go?" She continues to ask; I could feel her gaze on me. "And whose jacket is that?" She ponders.

"Oh, I just went outside for some fresh air." I begin to explain, smiling as I dish up the food. "I wasn't alone." I finish as I place the plates on the kitchen table.

"I can see that." Megs starts before taking a mouthful off food. "Are you going to tell me who this guy was, that you was with?" I shake my head at her.

"Sorry Megs. Until I know what it was last night, I don't want to say." I reply eating my food. I should probably be heading home soon.

"Did he at least give you his number?" She continues to ask as I look at her with my eyes wide. "Please tell me you got it?"

"He didn't give me his number." I frown as I answer.

"So he gave you his jacket but no number? Who does that?" Megs continues to ponder as I shrug. She was right though? Surely he would have wanted his jacket back if he didn't want me to have his number.

"I'm home!" I yell as I stepped into the house. Shutting the door behind me, I kick my shoes off and place my bag at the bottom of the stairs. I couldn't wait to shower.

"What happened to you?" My dad asks as I walk into the living room.

"My phone died, I'm sorry." I answer as my mum and dad look at each other.

"Well at least we know now, oh! Did you know we've got new neighbours?" My mum begins beaming as she tells me the news. She was like me; always loved the gossip.

"We do?" I ask in confusion. I mean, it wasn't much news to me in fact I wasn't really bothered.

"Yes and I have invited them round for dinner tomorrow evening." She continues smiling at me "And there's a boy your age." She finishes and I sigh. There we go. That's why she's so happy.

"I take it I have to be here?" I ask, not really caring. I'd rather be coped up in my room.

"Yes, you and your brother will be." I sighed. Great.

"Fine." I reply waving my arm. "I'm going to go take a shower." I tell them as I begin to make my way up the stairs.

I best prepare myself for tomorrow.
