Chapter 3 :)Hope you guys are liking it???
[Avery]
"Avery! Come on! They'll be here any minute." I groan as I hear my mum yell up the stairs.
"I'll be there in a minute! I'm almost ready!" I yell in return sighing. My parents had persuaded me to dress up, I don't know why I gave in to them - it's not like I care that we have new neighbours. I heard the doorbell ring as I checked the mirror one last time. I had decided on my favourite black skater dress, which flared out at the bottom, my hair was in a half up half down hair style with french braids. I had no make - up on, I hated wearing make - up.
"Avery!" My mums yells up again. Taking my phone off charge, I turn my bedroom light off and make my way downstairs. I could hear a lot of chatter in the kitchen, so I gathered that my parents were making them a drink.
"Ah! Avery! Finally!" My dad announces as I walk into the kitchen, where I found a woman, a man and a boy who was slightly taller than me stood. "Jennifer, Mark, Nick this is our daughter Avery." My dad introduces as I freeze. Nick? Nick was our new neighbour? No way!
"Nice to meet you, Avery." Nick smiles awkwardly. Damn. He looked good wearing black ripped skinny jeans and a red checked long sleeve top.
"Back at ya." I replied feeling my cheeks burn - red from humiliation, I could feel my mums eyes burn through the back of my head.
"Well then, since the introductions are over and done with, shall we head out into the garden?" My dad asks as everyone agrees and I mentally thank my dad for getting me out of this awkward situation.
"So, Nick... Why don't you go over and sit with Avery? Whilst us parents talk?" My mums asks well mostly tells nick as I flush with embarrassment yet again. They were treating us like kids. I absolutely hated it.
"Sure thing Mrs Taylor." He replies, all I wanted to do was scoff. I don't know why, maybe it was the way he left without saying bye at the party.
"Oh honey, call me Karen." My mum answers as Nick sweetly smiles at her before he makes his way over to the patio where I was currently sitting.
"What happened to you the other night?" I ask out of no - where shocking myself, feeling my heart flutter as his arm brushed past my leg as he sat down next to me. Where was this confidence coming from?
"Oh. I had to leave early, something came up and I didn't want to wake you." Nick replied with a sorry look on his face. Should I trust him?
"I still have your jacket, if you want me to give it back to you?" I tell him about to stand up to walk inside, that was when I felt a hand grab hold of mine.
"No. Stay. You can keep it. I have other jackets." Nick says with a tight grip on my hand, pulling me back down.
"Why do you want me to have it? I hardly know you." I ask him, confused. Sure, he gave me his jacket that night of the party because I was cold but surely he wants to have it back.
"It's something to remind you of me..." He smirks at me as I giggle lightly but then frown. I didn't know if he was being serious or not. "Plus, I think you should keep it, it'll keep you warm and it'll remind you of the first night we spent together." I raise an eyebrow at him. He was being serious.
"Seriously? All we did was chat all night?" Sure, it felt nice. But, I didn't mean that much to him? Yeah, he was lying.
"That night meant a lot to me. I didn't know anyone at the party and you were the only one to make an effort with me and get to know me. If I'm allowed, I would like to make it up to you?" Nick explains to me grabbing my hand.
"Really?" I begin to ask as he nods his head at me smiling. Looking around, I noticed that both our parents had gone inside so it just him and I outside on the patio. "I guess I can make an exception for you." I smile sweetly in return.
"Great. I'll come round at 6. Dress nicely." Nick tells me as I stare into those beautiful eyes of his.
"Nick! Honey! It's getting late! We're going!" Jennifer calls out to Nick as he hangs his head in embarrassment. Before I could even reply he gets up, brushes his hands against his legs and walks over to where his mum was. I watch him walk away, I think he could feel me watching him as he sent me a cheeky smile before he went inside; although there was only one thing on my mind.
What on earth was I going to wear tomorrow?
