Avery's POV
My hands shook as I took my phone of charge and stared at my reflection in the mirror. I was mentally laughing at myself for being this nervous. Is anyone this nervous before a first date?
"Avery! You nearly ready? Nick will be here soon!" I hear my mum call up and I mentally scold myself, trying to remind myself why on earth I had told my mum, about the date in the first place. I don't see why mum is so persistent on trying to find me someone. I have a good job, friends and I want to focus on moving out and travelling first before I really have to commit to anything. But if anything was to happen then great. But, with my choice of lad and my choice of looks and personality. Not my mums and especially not my dads.
"J-Just coming!" I call down a reply as I took a cheeky selfie before sending it to my best friend. I straightened out my green floral jumpsuit before picking up Nick's hoodie he had given me the night we had met and quickly make my way downstairs.
"Oh honey! You look beautiful!" My mum exclaims as she pulls me into a hug. I groaned as I tried to wriggle my way out before I was squashed alive.
"Mumm..." I groan and I look at my dad who stands there and laughs. Laughs? "Pleaseee don't be here when he comes?" I continue to ask as I raise an eyebrow at my mum.
"Of course honey. I just hope you have fun but not too much fun!" My mum begins to explain to me winking and I shudder. My parents ladies and gentlemen.
Nick's POV
"Where are you taking her?" Dad asks as stepping into my room as I straighten out my shirt. God I was nervous. I needed to man up.
"I was thinking a nice meal and then a stroll along the seafront afterwards." I tell him. The perks of living five minutes from the beach.
"Sounds like a good idea. Have a fun evening but not to fun" My dad winks at me as he leaves my room causing me to roll my eyes. I check the time, two minutes before I need to make my way over to Avery's house. I smile as her name popped into my head, I remembered the first night I met Avery at some party I had been invited to, the way she made it easy to talk to her, I remember giving her my hoodie when I had noticed she got cold; how we kissed when the fireworks went off. I frowned to myself as I remembered leaving early and not saying good - bye. But, who knew she would be my neighbour?
"Nick! I thought you were picking up Avery!" My mum calls up breaking me from my thoughts, as I roll my eyes. I chuck my wallet into my back jean pocket as well as my phone, I grab my super dry jacket and make my way downstairs to get my shoes on.
"Don't know what time I'll be home! Don't wait up!" I announce as I open the front door hearing satisfied muffles come the living room I shut the door behind me as I build up the courage to walk over to next - door.
Avery's POV
"After you my - lady." Nick says looking handsome as ever in his shirt, hoodie and black jeans. I couldn't believe it. For the first time in ever. I am going on a date. This feels surreal.
"Why - Thank you" I chuckle as I curtesy starting to walk when realisation hit me. "Where are we going?" I ask as Nick chuckles ever so cutely.
"I thought a nice stroll along the beach, watch the sunset and I have even bought a bottle of fizzy." Nick exclaims holding up a bag which looked like it had to wine glasses and a bottle of champagne in it.
"Sounds good to me." I reply blushing ever so slightly as we continued to walk to the beach.
Nick's POV
"So why is this your favourite spot of the beach?" Avery asks me tucking a piece of her hair behind her ear as we take a seat underneath a tree that overlooked the sea and the beach.
"Because it's quite out of the way from everything and everyone and it's really peaceful up here." I tell her as I see her smile and nod along with me.
"I do agree with you on that one." Avery answers smiling at me. Gosh her smile was cute.
"Would you like one?" I ask her holding up an empty glass.
"Yes please." She replies crossing her legs and turning around so she was now facing me.
