Recap:
Loki needed a particular power source. If he couldn't get his hands on a real source, he was going to have to be satisfied with a synthetic one. Thinking about that is when it hit me as to why he took me along with the Tesseract.
"That's why he needed me," I said more to myself than anyone else. But that didn't stop everyone from turning their attention to me. "Before going to Germany, Loki told Clint to try his best to make sure I wasn't involved with anything and kept out of the way. His theory must be that I'm of some use when it came to opening another portal."

"And just how might you be able to help make a portal, Jade," Stark asked remembering not to call me a name I hadn't approved.
I brought my right hand out to where everyone could see what I was talking about. It began to glow a bright electric blue. The same blue that was shot from the scepter. Keeping the powers at bay, I did what Loki had done to the people he turned. Holding a finger to Nat's chest. Taking over her mind.
An orange light coursed through my veins, rushing to my left hand which was already placed where my right hand had been. Nat's thinking process returned as her own and I was no longer in control of her actions.
"That explains why he may have needed you. But since you're not missing anymore, he would have to heat the cube to a hundred and twenty million Kelvin just to break through the Coulomb barrier," Dr. Banner explained trying to change the subject. And Stark followed suit.
"Unless, Selvig has figured out how to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect."
"Well, if he could do that he could achieve-"
"He could achieve Heavy Ion Fusion at any reactor on the planet," I finished, tired of everyone treating me like I didn't know anything. Which wasn't true. I was way more intelligent than I let on. And only one person knew that. If you guessed Phil Coulson, you'd be right.
"Finally, people who speak English," Stark joked while smiling at Banner and myself. And no one seemed to understand what we were talking about as proved by Cap asking if that's what just happened.
Stark and Banner shook hands. A glimmer in their eyes as their mutual respect for each other showed. Neither one of them looked at me though. Not that I cared. I just wanted to go back to my bunk and avoid the questioning glances of anyone who thought I might have been turned.
"Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube," the director said to Stark, bringing me out of my daze once again. "I was hoping you might join him."
"Let's start with that stick of his. It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a H.Y.D.R.A. weapon," Rogers stated from experience.
"I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube," Bossman said before I got a chance to say that it wasn't a H.Y.D.R.A. weapon. "And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys."
After Fury said that, I regretted showing my new team what I could do. Luckily, I didn't have to wait that long because Thor and Rogers were trying to figure out the reference of flying monkeys while everyone else knew Fury was talking about the Wizard of Oz.
"Monkeys? I do not understand."
"I do!" Rogers exclaimed. It was about time something was said that he understood. Even if it was from the fifties.
