What if We Lose?

JADE'S POV

In my unconscious state of mind, a replica of myself was made in the detention center of the helicarrier. Stark and Rogers couldn't see or hear me. But I wish I had come into the conversation a little sooner.

"Right. How did that work for him?" Stark said brushing past Rogers who made a comment he didn't like. "We are not soldiers! I'm not marching to Fury's fife!"

No one was. We were simply trying to save the world. Then we'd go our separate ways until another situation arose that only Earth's mightiest hero's could help with.

With a wave of my invisible, illuminated hand, a portion of the wall glowed. It was the part with Coulson's blood. The glow was more like a trickle of pixie dust if-you-will forming the shape of Stark Tower. The dust forming my initial as it fell to the floor.

Stark chose that moment to look to the wall. The blood stain left by Coulson's body. And realized Loki had made this personal. He struck us where we live.

"Why?"

"To tear us apart. He had to conquer his greed, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right? That's what he wants. He wants to beat us and he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience."

Stark had a point. And Rogers couldn't help but agree.

"But what does he want with Jade? This is the second time he's taken off with her."

"That's just a preview, this is opening night. Loki's a full-tilt diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades, a monument built in the skies with his name plastered..." he suddenly realized what I had known all along. "Son-of-a-bitch!"

"What?

"They went to Stark Tower, just as Banner suggested earlier. And one other thing. She has to be Loki's daughter." They walked and talked. "It's the only way I can come up with as a reason for her to have alien blood and her powers."

**************************************************************

Slowly coming to, I felt a constant pounding where I had hit my head. There was a subtle numbness and tingling in my hands which I soon discovered were once again tied behind my back.

"You know, for someone who doesn't want me to be a part of the action, you sure are making me a part of it," I said more to myself than anything. Didn't even know if he was in earshot when I said it.

"It wasn't my decision," he quipped with a smile that made me want to punch him in the face. But I couldn't because of my restraints.

Looking to his minions, he gave a signal that at first I didn't understand. But I didn't need to ask what was going on because the answer soon came.

Apparently, while I was unconscious, Loki's men found a floor in Stark Tower that was walled entirely with glass. I found myself being carried to said level, and dropped on the floor. A Swiss army knife being left behind on purpose for me to release myself from my bonds, which I did. But it wasn't in time. Loki's men locked the doors to the emergency exits and stairs. They also hacked the elevator so that it wouldn't open on this floor.

Laying my hands out to use-the-force on the doors and elevator, I was met with a heaping pile of disappointment. Nothing happened. I attempted to use every single power that S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't know of because thanks to Barton, Loki knew what I could do. But nothing happened.

"He did it again," I stated through grit teeth. "Yo, J.A.R.V.I.S. I need visual, and audio, on Loki. Think you can make it so he can't see me?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that, Agent J. My protocols have been overridden," J.A.R.V.I.S. said in his robotic voice.
