A'Jahnae

Eating my breakfast tater tots, I looked through the windshield of AJ's car.

"Are you ready to go in?" A'Jaiziea asked me eating her cinnamon roll.

"No, I'm not ready to go in, AJ. You know that." I sighed.

"We can always leave, you know? Get a marriage counselor and let you two work this out because you know Mommy would never want you to get a divorce."

"AJ, I know that." I answered shaking my head. "Pick me up in an hour."

"Alright, I love you."

"I wish he did too." I said back, getting out of the car. She looked down and then drove off. I went into the office building and signed in, going up to the fifth floor, where my lawyer had instructed me to go.

Today, we were signing papers and discussing what would happen after the divorce is finalized. Today was more of a wake up call than anything.

I walked into the room and saw my lawyer and Chris' lawyer discussing something. "Hello, Mrs. Brown, nice to see you." He held out his hand and I shook it.

"Hello, um... I'd like to be called Ms. Taylor from now on."

"Oh, I apologize, I do. Why don't you take a seat?" I sat next to him, across from Chris' lawyer. "You said you were three months pregnant?" I nodded my head.

"That's good." Chris' lawyer interrupted. "If you don't mind me asking, why are you and my client getting a divorce?"

"I honestly think Chris could give you a better answer." Suddenly, the door opened and in walked Chris. "Now that he's here, I'm sure he could tell you."

Chris looked confused. "Tell you what?"

"Why we are divorcing."

Chris sat still but then answered. "Because you are insecure and you are unable to trust me, although you have no reason to be."

"Well, obviously you have given me thousands of reasons as to why you are not trustworthy. I am not just getting it from thin air."

"You are, because you have given me reasons as to why you ain't trustworthy either. But since I love you, I fought past that and got over it."

I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and he returned the gesture. "Uh, now that the both of you are here, we can begin discussing the things following the divorce and settlements." My lawyer stated. "Will there be any settlements?"

"I do not want anything from him, I am totally fine." I assured them.

"No time to be stubborn, Nae. You need spousal support?" Chris had the nerve to ask.

"I was doing fine without you, so don't make it seem like I need your money." Chris looked at me then looked away.

"Can we talk about custody? Because that is the main reason why I'm here."

"I will have physical custody, and you are able to get them on the weekends." I stated with a nod. Chris gave me a look of disgust.

"That's not happening. I get to see the kids just as much as you do."

"I am making you a really good offer, Chris. You have tours, events, even a girlfriend to take care of. It can get difficult dealing with four children-"
