Chris
"Damn, lil mama." I tilted my head back as this girl from the strip club gave me some of the best head I had in months. "Just like that." I pushed her head down more.
Suddenly, my phone vibrated in my pocket, so I answered it without stopping her. It was my mom.
Phone Conversation
"Wassup, Ma?"
"Chris, baby, I need you to come down to the hospital right now, it is an emergency." I froze in my seat and I pushed the stripper off me, unbuckling my pants.
"You okay. Mama?"
"Y-yes, baby, I'm fine, it's A'Jahnae."
"Shit, I'll be there in five." I hung up.
End of Conversation
"Thanks, but I gotta roll." I threw her some money without looking at it, and left out. Once I got in my car, I zoomed off.
As I drove, I thought of all of the things that could have happened to her and finally it hit me: the baby. I drove faster thinking about our child. I hoped that she and the baby were okay because I would go crazy if either one of them were not.
I made it to the hospital and ran in. "A'Jahnae Brown." I said.
"Room 121." The clerk said uninterested as she spoke on the phone. I paid no attention and rushed to her room. When I got there, I saw everyone and Fizz?!
"What you doing here, Fizz?" I cut him and the doctor off, they were conversing.
"Wassup, man?" He looked at me.
"This my baby mama, what you doing here?" I asked in a more stern tone.
Fizz looked me up and down. "Chill out, Chris, I ain't in the mood for this shit right now."
I double blinked at him to make sure that I actually heard his ass properly. "Bitch-" I started but my mom cut me off.
"Christopher, be quiet, now the doctor would like to speak to all of us since you are here." She held a used tissue in her hands. AJ and Trey were sitting together, and August and Heather had their heads down.
"Wassup, doc? Look, I already know it's gonna be a girl, so you can save that news for someone else." I chuckled to myself. I stopped when I saw the doctor's expression. He took off his glasses.
"Mr. Brown, Mrs. Brown has sickle cell anemia, and I am sure you are aware of this, right?"
"Yeah, she had it forever, what's the problem?"
"Because of her condition, she has lost blood due to stress, and failure to properly take care of herself."
"That ain't nothing a lil transfusion can't fix." I shrugged.
"No, no, sir, I don't think you understand." He started. "A'Jahnae's red blood cells help support the child in the womb, but they have extremely dropped during her pregnancy, disabling her from being able to carry the child safely."
"What are you saying?" I wanted him to get to the point.
He sighed. "I am sorry to inform you of this, but the child did not survive-"
It felt like my world instantly shattered. Everything was moving slow after the doctor said those words.
"No no no." I shook my head as my mom walked up to me already crying.
"It's alright, baby, come here." She pulled me into me a hug as I broke down on her shoulder.
After about five minutes, I needed to see A'Jahnae. I needed to make sure that she was alright and I needed to see how she was handling the news.
