They say our solar system is centered around the sun.
Days go by quite fast and it's eventually Friday. Show and tell day.
I bring my favorite thing in the world, Squinkers, my raccoon.
Suddenly I hear a shriek. "Get it out!!!!!" It's Mrs. Jontavia, the school's employee of the month.
She is a technology teacher who sucks. She hates me. I had her last year and she made me go to the counselor for school therapy. I had to do exercises to help "improve my life". The exercises were fun. I got to look at pictures on cards that looked like blobs and the counselor asked me what I could make out of them.
Mrs. Jontavia sees Squinkers. I throw the raccoon in my backpack and sprint for Mr. Gun's classroom. I see him standing outside his doorway so I yell, "MR. GUN, I'M READY FOR SHOW AND TELL!"
Mr. Gun gives me a fake, but calming smile and let's me in the room without suspecting that a raccoon is in my backpack.
I get to my chair and I'm the first one in class. Gary walks in about 2 minutes later holding his favorite item in the world, which I would know from being his best friend. It's his friend Dean the pumpkin. It is a pumpkin about the size of his hand that he's had him since the 1st grade.
"Wow Gary, I didn't think you would bring Dean!" I say.
"I know, I'm kinda worried." He replies glancing around. The bell rings and class starts. I wait until a few people go before I present Squinkers.
"I'll go!" Gary announced after 2 people have already gone. Gary stands up and heads to the front of the class.
"Many of you may have pictures, stuffed animals, or jewelry... Maybe you have a fun story to tell. But I don't. Well I have a story but it's not fun, it's grand."
Gary holds up his pumpkin. "This is Dean." Gary whips out a folded piece of tissue from the pocket of his jacket and wipes a tear from the corner of his eye.
"Dean is an important part of my family. He eats with me, sleeps with me, and plays games with me."The class gets silent.
Gary takes Dean and sits down at his desk. I clap and scream, "GOOD JOB GARY!" Gary smiles at me.
"Ok, who's next?" Mr. Gun asks.
"I'll go! Me me me me!" I wave my hands around.
"Mice, you're up."
I go to the front of the classroom with my backpack on. I take it off my back and zip it open. I'm smiling the whole time.
Squinkers jumps out and I grab him. I stroke his matted fur and sing to him softly, my favorite song. I finally get him to settle down.
"This is Squinkers." I look up and everyone is staring at me with horrific faces. Mr. Gun is sitting at his desk while pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Squinkers is my rock. My heart. He is something special to me that I thought I could present today... I love you to the moon and back, Lil' Squinks." I give Squinkers a juicy kiss and shove him back in my backpack.
I watch everyone else's presentation, but, I think mine was the best. I start to stroke my backpack knowing that my baby is in there. I tell him, "It's all going to be alright. You did so good." I hear my papers being shredded.
"Thank you class. This was a wonderful show and tell." Mr. Gun announces.
The bell rings.
"Have a good weekend! See you Monday!" Mr. Gun yells as everyone walks out the door.
