~Kyoya POV~

A man that Rin assumed was part of the Ootori family police force burst through the door. Both Rin and Kyoya looked up, confused.

"Master Kyoya, an armed man has broken into the building. We request that you evacuate immediately!"

Kyoya's eyes widened. He had never prepared for something like this to happen. How would he get out of the house safely, and where would he go if he did? That was something that would have to be decided later. Right now, there was someone in the estate, and Kyoya did not want to know who it was.

"Miss Isami, come with me, please." Kyoya said, quickly getting up and running over to the door.

Rin followed Kyoya, though she was extremely confused. If there really was someone in the place, all she wanted was to get out. The two rushed through the long hallways of Kyoya's estate. As they neared a corner, a black shadow appeared on the wall in front of them. Kyoya stopped in his tracks. If whoever was there turned the corner, they would be seen.

The boy thought as quickly as he possibly could, and grabbed Rin's hand. He pulled the girl into a closet on the side of the hall. Right when he realized what he had done, Kyoya let go of her hand.

"My apologies. Let's stay here for a moment," he said.

The closet was fairly dark, but there was enough light from outside that they could see the things in front of them. Rin was clearly a bit shaken up, but she was staying calm. To be honest, Kyoya was confused, worried, and slightly traumatized as well, but he hid those feelings behind his facade.

"Are you alright, Miss Isami?" the boy asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine. This is just a bit sudden, and it happened so fast." Rin replied.

Both of them shut up as they heard footsteps walking down the hallway. As the sounds got louder, Kyoya hoped more than anything that whoever it was wouldn't decide to check in the closet. Fortunately, the footsteps passed by and slowly started getting quieter. Kyoya let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding.

When the intruder was far enough from the closet, Kyoya began to think of a way to get out of the estate safely and efficiently.

"The fastest way to exit the building would be through the side door on the lower floor. Since we are on the second floor, we only have to go down one staircase." Kyoya announced.

"I'm alright with that." Rin answered, relieved that they could be leaving the house in only a matter of minutes.

They waited in the closet for a few minutes, preparing themselves for this possibly life-threatening feat. The tension in the small room could be cut with a knife. Both of them knew that, even though they would much rather stay in the closet, it was safer outside of the building. In the other parts of the house, Rin and Kyoya could hear complete panic. The Ootori police force was trying to find the intruder, but apparently to no success.

Kyoya overheard them talking about how they had gotten his father and siblings out of the house safely, but that they were unsure if the younger children had made it out.

"At least they're safe," Kyoya thought. "Now all that's left is for us. Don't worry, Kyoya, everything will be fine in a few hours. Right now, you just have to get Rin out of here."

"Alright, Miss Isami. Are you ready to go?" he asked the girl beside him.

Rin took a deep breath before answering. "I guess so."
