~Kyoya POV~

The next morning, Kyoya was sitting at his desk listening to Tamaki ramble about things that weren't important in the slightest. He was working on a project for class, but he couldn't seem to focus, the main reason for that being the boy screaming in his ear next to him. After a few minutes, Kyoya just gave up on the project and pretended to listen to the blonde.

The Ootori was so caught up in his thoughts, he barely noticed Rin Isami enter the room and walk over to her desk. As she bent down to grab her textbook out of her bag, Kyoya saw something he hadn't noticed yesterday. Rin was wearing a necklace with a small blue bird attached to it. It was a very alluring accessory, to say the least. It looked really nice on the girl. Kyoya was snapped out of his trance when the school bell rang.

During class, Kyoya couldn't get his mind off of Rin's necklace, which was very uncharacteristic of him. It was only a necklace, wasn't it? Why was he so attracted to the piece of jewelry?

"Mr. Ootori? Kyoya?" the teacher said, slightly worried.

Kyoya's head snapped up. "I'm sorry?"

"Can you please answer the question on the board?"

This wasn't right. It wasn't right at all. Kyoya needed to pull himself together. He wasn't acting like himself, and it wasn't long before people would start to notice. The boy spent the rest of class struggling to focus on the lesson, with little success. He really needed to get a grip on himself.

After class, Kyoya quickly walked over to one of the school's bathrooms and leaned against the counter. His jet black hair fell over his face. He desperately hoped that nobody would walk in and see him like this.

Once he felt that he had gained enough control over himself, Kyoya made his way to the library where he had planned to study. The Ootori sat down at a table in the corner of the library and pulled out his textbooks. He also looked around for his blonde-haired friend, who, fortunately, was helping a group of girls study, and seemed to have no interest in Kyoya.

After a few minutes of studying, Kyoya realized that he was missing a few books that he needed. Getting up, Kyoya brushed off his pale blue blazer and walked over to the wooden bookshelves. He slowly scanned them for the books that he was in need of. A fair way down the aisles, Kyoya's eyes focused on a small metallic object sitting on the shelf. The boy walked over to it and found that it was a bluebird necklace. The same necklace he had seen Rin wearing earlier that day.

"What is this doing here?" the Ootori thought to himself.

Kyoya considered taking the necklace and attempting to return it to its owner but quickly decided against it. It would probably be easier for Rin to find it if he left it be. He began to look through the aisles of books again, stealing small glances at the necklace that lay a few feet away from him. Once Kyoya found all of the required books, he went back to the table and continued his studying.

Incoherent, muffled words could be heard in the library, and Kyoya looked up. Standing near the row of computers was Rin. She was talking to one of the first year boys. He seemed to be holding something, and Kyoya had to squint to see it. It was the necklace. He seemed to be returning it to Rin. After she took the necklace, she swiftly walked back to the computer she was working at and sat down.

The scene made Kyoya want to learn wonder about the necklace even more. The curiosity was almost impossible to cover up, even for someone like Kyoya. When the lunch bell rang, Rin was the first student out of the room. Kyoya decided to follow her. Maybe he would be able to talk to her again. The Ootori trailed behind Rin, still keeping a safe distance away from her. As the girl left the building, Kyoya realized that he hadn't seen Rin at lunch yesterday. This was most likely the reason why.
