Leo XXII

Leo knew he shouldn’t have drank so much coffee.

When he came to his senses, he saw Jason hitting his fist on the ground while sobbing, Piper walking around looking miserable, Frank in a hospital bed with crutches emotionless, and Hazel running into the Hermes cabin, dark shadows under her eyes. He couldn’t find Annabeth, Thalia nor Nico, and he was worried whether they died in battle.

“Die! Peasants! DIE!” Coach Hedge was waving a log and running around. Obviously, he drank some whiskey just now. Or Dakota’s cool aid. Same thing.

“Hey man, what’s the matter?” Leo decided to ask his best friend. Jason sighed.

“It’s Percy. But I don’t want to talk about it.”

“Man, aren't you Superman or something? Why the sad look?”

Jason shook his head.

“Fine, I’ll ask Hazel.”

Leo angrily walked to the Hermes cabin. What’s wrong with Jason? He’s not like himself. What’s the matter with him?

He knocked loudly on the door.

No answer.

“Hello?”

Then there came a series of screams and glass breaking and gunshots.

Gunshots?

Leo banged his hand on the door. “Is everything okay?”

There was a high-pitched scream.

Silence.

“Holy Hephaestus…” Leo muttered. He grabbed a small hammer from his tool belt and broke down the door.

The scene shocked him.

Hazel was sprawled on the floor, unconscious.

And Travis was in there too…

Leo tried to advert his gaze. Travis… looked horrible.

The most eye-catching was that there was a knife in his hand and there was blood on his chest. But not just a little drop of blood.

His wound on his chest was already flooding the floor beside him. Leo could basically smell the blood and he almost threw up.

Leo turned around. Many other demigods were running towards him. Towards the scene.

“Leo…”

It was Travis.

Leo immediately ran towards Travis, trying to ignore the scent of blood.

“Travis! Oh gods. Are you okay? No of course not…”

Travis laughed, then he got serious.

“They planned this. They planned this all along. Never lose guard. Ask Hazel. She knows…”

Travis’s breathing started to get weaker.

“I’ll be seeing Katie soon.” he smiled.

His breathing stopped.

Leo choked down a sob. Even though he wasn’t really close with the Hermes cabin, it was excruciating to see Travis die.

“Leo! What happened…? Oh my gods!”

Connor was the first to arrive at the scene.

No, NO!” Connor screamed. “Travis…”

Connor knelt down next to his twin brother, sobbing into his blood-stained Camp-Half-Blood T-shirt.

“Connor… I’m so sorry…” Leo murmured.

Connor hastily wiped his tears with his sleeve of his jacket.

“It’s not your fault, Leo. They took everything away from us.” Connor said, his expression was filled with sorrow and anger.

Who’s them?

“Okay… I’ll just… go now.” Leo stood up and walked towards his favourite place-where he met Festus the ‘dragon'.

Leo just couldn’t get some quiet time for himself.

“Ugh. Why wouldn’t they just come back? Why send me anyways! It’s not like anything would happen at camp!”

“Who’s there?” Leo stood up, holding out the hammer he just used for hammering down the door.

“Holy Hades, there’s someone here?” the voice muttered. Leo raised an eyebrow.

“Is that…Nico?”

“Hi.” Nico came out from the shadows.

“Where’ve you been?” Leo lowered the hammer. He knew he looked stupid waving that thing around.

“Uh… on a quest.” Nico said. “Anyways. Anything happened at camp?”

“Well, if you consider a demigod dying of suspected suicide, then, yeah.”

“What? Who?” Nico asked urgently.

“It’s Travis…”

“Gods, really?”

“In the Hermes cabin.”

Nico ran to that direction almost immediately.

“Okay…”

Leo slowly walked back to his own cabin. Then a demigod ran to him, panting.

“Leo, right? You’re Hazel’s friend, yeah?”

“Uh…yeah!"

“Great.” the demigod took a deep breath.

“Hazel’s awake. She wants to tell us everything.”

AN: I was tired. Okay? Sorry for the crappy chapter. I was tired. I'll try to not do so many cliffies, but that may be quite impossible... since last night, I had the whole plot settled in my mind ;)
