Julian appeared with two bags of blood in his hand. Both had the letters "DBF" inscribed in large white letters. "Until you learn to control your teeth, we will drink from glasses. I hope you don't mind."

He poured half the contents of a bag into the first cup, and the smell surrounded me. I closed my eyes and inhaled the salty sweetness, getting an idea of what it would taste like. I opened my eyes as he poured the other half into his cup and pushed mine over to me. I took it, he held his glass to mine, and I very carefully clinked glasses with him. “It... does smell amazing.” I admitted. I was definitely curious. I felt a strange pressure in my teeth.

“Indeed. Drink up, we have more to discuss!” he said, and lifted the glass to drink. As the cup got closer, I felt my teeth pop. It startled me, and I gasped.

“Ahh. This is what I was speaking of. The blood scent caused your teeth to descend, but I will teach you how to stop them from doing this. You will also be able to bring them down without a blood scent. Then you can just place your mouth over the bag and puncture it.”

“Yeah. It wouldn’t do to have a human see.” I laughed, noticing how strange it felt to talk with my new fangs. “Well, here goes.” Again I lifted the cup to my lips, and as the thick liquid poured into my mouth, I noticed it tasted ten times better than it smelled. It was indeed sweet and salty. As I swallowed, it coated my throat better than milk. My eyes were closed again, and I felt a little dribble of something on my bottom lip. I went to wipe it, but Julian’s finger was there before I could. My stomach did a little flip at the electricity of his touch, and my eyes went up to him as he caught the drop of blood on his finger, and then put his finger in his mouth to suck it off.

My eyes widened. I didn’t know why, but I found that incredibly sexy. I had to say something to break the feelings that were swelling inside me. I looked away, and as I did, the feelings only got stronger. It felt like… power. Or energy.

I looked up at Julian, and his half smile was adorable as always.

“Does blood make you… feel things?” I asked.

“Indeed.” His smile never left.

“Oh. It’s…” I had no word to describe the euphoria that had begun to swirl inside me. But I did lift the glass once more.

By the time it was gone, the rush I was feeling had turned to a surge. I felt so in tune with everything. My body, and my surroundings. It was amazing.

“This is…” Again, no words. I just smiled. I wanted to dance, and sing. And laugh.

And I did laugh. I turned away and looked at everything around me. Colors were brighter, smells stronger, and I just felt a million times happier. I snuck a peek at Julian. Was he not feeling this too?

He just watched me with that adorable smile.

“You like it then?”

I laughed at him.

“Are you kidding? I’ve never felt this… I don’t know... alive?”

Julian’s smile got bigger. He was beautiful. I could only stare.

“This is your body’s appreciation to you for giving it what it needs.”

“I will feel this every time I drink?”

“It will get less powerful over time, but yes.”

“Wow. I can’t believe I was hesitant. I feel like I could do anything!”

“Then let’s start your training.” He held out his hand. I smiled, and took it. The little electric feelings that happened whenever I came in contact with Julian were no match for what I felt as he touched me now. It was just so alarming. I jerked back. His touch had seemed to penetrate my skin, and reach to the very depth of me. My inner being seemed to vibrate. Julian just smiled and held out his hand again. Of course, curious, I took it. And the feeling returned. It felt like he was touching my soul.
