"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!" I screamed, continuing to fall. This wasn't like one of those Adventure Movies where the character falls and catches on a outstretched branch. Or even one of the movies where the character would fall into a rushing stream. Nope. I was about to go SPLAT. Suddenly, a large portal opened, shimmering black and purple. I fell straight through, and found myself crashing into darkness. I let out a groan, putting a hand over my nose because it smelled like I had just landed in a dumpster. Suddenly the roof above me opened, and Shadow peered through. "Get out of the dumpster." He laughed, and I just facepalmed before doing as told. I lept out of the dumpster, brushing myself off before looking around. "Where are we?" I asked, my eyes slightly amazed at the view. "Welcome to the future." Shadow said, raising his arms as he walked around. "The future- as in 2020?" I said, walking after him as I continued to gaze around. "Nope. Future as in 2100." He said, before he started climbing up a ladder. I followed up, making a soft "Woooaaahhhh" sound as we climbed into a small room in the hole of the brick building. "So you opened that portal here?" I ask, looking around what I assumed was his base. He gave a nod, flopping down on the couch. "Yep. Truth is, I need your help with something. See, when you were 27, you found this knife called the Shadow Shaper. It's a old myth that was said to turn any human whom touches the knife into a shadow within 7 years, and it sentences them to a world where it's practically a living hell." As he began to explain, I decided not to ask questions, and just sit to listen. "Pretty much you were the first one to be shifted. You hid the knife from your teammates so they wouldn't have to go through the same, and you died. After the years went by, the knife ended up in the hands of a demon, who went around stabbing anyone he saw. He pretty much turned most of the human population into shadows." "So you brought me here to try and stop it." I said, crossing my arms as I kicked my feet up on the table. "Exactly. I know you're smart enough, because you almost figured it out before-" "I died." I finished, looking around silently. "Exactly." He said awkwardly, huffing softly. "Did Liz and Jane get turned to shadows?" I ask finally, looking at Shadow sitting on the couch in front of me. He shook his head. "You were able to save them. They're still alive. Part of the million that made it." He said, getting up. "Where are we going? We have work to do." I say, standing up to follow. "I suppose you want to go see them." He said, and I simply shrugged before following.
Once we reached this large building, he guided me in. I read a sign to myself as I passed, reading "Elderly Acres." My eyes widened, as I heard a loud voice. "BIIINNGGOOOOOO!!!!!" Shadow turned to look at me, snorting laughs as he pointed into a room. I slid my hands into my leather jacket, walking into the building. The hallways smelled like a dentist office with more bleach. I peered into the room Shadow had pointed, eyes quickly widened at the sight. A very very very old woman dressed in a full purple yoga suit, was doing some really awkward dance for her age- I don't even think my hips move like that. I covered my mouth, trying not to totally burst into laughter. The next thing that happened, I couldn't hold it in. "LIIIIIIIVVVVV..... GEEEETT OFFF DAT DEERE' TABLE RIGHT NOW BEFORE I- OH MY HIP!" Another elderly lady cried out, and I watched as she got up and shook her cane at old lady Liv, whom continued to dance on the table. "THAT'S WHAT YOU GET JANE. YOU CAN'T STOP- Zzzzz." She literally fell asleep mid sentence, standing up. I couldn't stop laughing, literally falling to my knees next to Shadow as we both laughing uncontrollably.
