Out of Control

Nolly's eyes open to the green forest around him. Seeing, all is almost the same as before the test started. The clouds in the sky are still as gray as can be. But the rain had ceased. The stone he had previously touched was right in front of him, shining less brightly then before, as if he had tamed it by passing the test.

He looks directly at the stone curiously and in slight worry of getting shocked again. Taking a deep breathe, he moves his hand slowly toward it. Unafraid. His hand gets close enough to feel bolts of blue and yellow lightning linking/striking against his hand. Yet he doesn't pull away, but embraces the pain at his finger tips. As he gets ever so closer it begins to move up his wrist causing the pain to increase. Bolts of lightning get so bright striking all up and around his arm as he inches in still leaning toward the Stone of Thunder.

He reaches his hand deeper touching the stone itself. The stone feels hard like solid marvel, almost cold to the touch. The stone turns into a liquid form of thunder and gets completely consumed by his hand in just a couple seconds. His whole body is filled with more energy then he can handle nor control. He crosses his arms spastically and then spreads them all the way to the sides stretching his whole back in the process with his chest pushed up against the sky. He lets out a cry that sounds as bold as the roar of a lion that could most likely be heard from a mile away as a giant uncontrolled bolt of lightning, branching from every part of his body, is let into the sky hitting the clouds, forcing them to be cleared away as the bolt of lightning is divided into six parts flying all separate ways. Looking as if they might of been going specific directions.

Nolly falls onto his hands and knees knowing a great amount of energy has been pulled from him. Breathing deeply, he slowly regains his breathe. His body is twitching from the electric charge. He looks up as he gets on one knee and sees the clouds in the sky are gone and that it's early morning.

He stands to his feet, trying the best he can not to twitch, but quite frankly it's not helping much. His left arm twitches locking out completely strait as it shoots a bolt of lightning across the forest. It strikes the base of a tree about 100 yards away forcing bark to be sent flying on fire.

Nolly looks at the sight and says "Wow! That was awesome!" He then proceeds to gesture out his right arm as he had accidentally done with his left. Keeping his hand horizontal another bolt of lightning shoots across the forest, striking something else in the distance. He says to himself aloud, "This is really, really awesome!" He then excitedly swings his arms out on both sides of his body, shooting two bolts of lightning in opposite directions, then shoots a bolt out in front of him, then does one behind his back, then one under his legs, and proceeds to shoot a few more bolts nearly on accident because of the uncontrollable twitching and energy.

He then looks at a specific tree in the distance about 60 feet away and makes the decision to strike that tree with a bolt of lightning. He puts a smirk on his face that yells out confidence and extends his arm out as static energy begins to fly through the air making a bolt of lightning. The expression of disappointment on his face tells it all, his aim was way off to the right of the tree. He puts the same smirk on his face with just as much confidence as before. He prepares his arm to strike and throws it out to the side pointed toward the tree. Now his face lights up a bit, but he was still quite a bit off. Guess I'll try with my left arm this time he thinks as he turns his body around pointed at the same tree. Puts that confident look on his face as he extends his arm out. And to his surprise it actually came closer than ever. Then he tries to change the way his arm extends out by having his hand be vertical instead of horizontal. Just for the fun it! Plus he notices it helping with his twitching to release the energy. Extending out his arm he shoots a bolt of lightning that crashes to the ground just before it hits the tree, throwing bark, grass, and rocks at the stump of it. A smile is on his face appears as he collects his thoughts My aim with my hand flat curves to the side. My aim with my hand going up to down goes toward the ground. Hey! That rhymed! Up and down, toward the ground. Hmmm.... How can I get better control?

Grandpa! He's lived here so long, he must know something about this he thinks to himself making the decision to go ask him. Being a bit disoriented of which direction the house is in, he decides to climb one of the taller trees around. Once he arrives near the top of the tree he looks out to see anything familiar. He sees smoke being brought up into the air. He's knows that's the direction he needs to head, because there weren't too many houses up where his Grandparents lived. He carefully climbs down the tree making sure not to hurt himself then begins to walk toward the smoke through the thick wooded forest.

Nolly sees many lust green plants along the way and observes the forest with curiosity. Wondering about what other secrets this forest might have and about what kind of creatures might live here.

Again he starts to day dream. He sees some mushrooms along the side in the forest and imagines what they would be like if they were giant, grew legs out of the ground, and had a mouth big enough to bite a head off. How he might be able to fight one if it started to try and attack him. So, daydreaming of this, he took his sights on the usual mushrooms on the ground about 30 to 40ft away. He swung his right arm out once more shooting a static bolt. He just kinda laughs it off seeing that he has once again missed by a long shot. I gotta ask my grandpa about this :) he immediately thinks to himself and runs toward the house in a full on sprint. (PS This is the fastest he's ever run before.)

In not much time at all he gets out of the thick wooded forest seeing his Grandpa hosting a fire in the backyard.

"Hey Nolly! You've been out in the woods," his Grandfather greets him "were you out in that thunder and lightning?"

"Yea, I was out in the thunder and lightning. A lot of strange things happened back there" Nolly says with a smirk of excitement on his face.

A smile that says I know exactly  what you mean went across his Grandfather's face "So, what kind of strange things?"

"Well I woke up in the middle of the night to take a walk out here, because I felt called by something in the forest. Then I tried to run back inside, but lightning shot against the ground in front of me as I did. So then I went into the depths of the forest and found what was calling me–"

"What was calling you?" Grandpa stops him in mid speech. Not that his voice was loud, he actually spoke softly. But that he was a man of few words, so every time he did talk, it would be respected and you would listen.

"A stone of thunder and lightning."

Again that smile saying I know exactly what you mean appeared on his face once more.

"Yea, anyways I touched it. And it took me through this awesome test. I almost died, but thank God I managed to survive the test. And now a stone is inside of me giving me the ability to shoot lightning bolt things out of my hands."

"Let me see you hit one of those trees" his Grandpa asks him pointing his finger toward the forest.

"All right!" he says excitingly and fires at a tree in the forest. It hits the tree spot on! Well, the one to the right of the one he was actually aiming for.

"Nice shot!" his Grandpa responds.

"I was actually aiming for the tree to the left of that one," Nolly says with a goofy smile on his face "and I was actually wondering if you could give me some advice on how to aim."

"Honestly, I'm not too sure, but you could try using one finger instead of four. Maybe it will be more accurate that way" his Grandpa advices, then he continues by mumbling something Nolly doesn't quite hear "that's what I use to do."

Nolly looks at his hands being lost in thought and completely unresponsive to his Grandpa. Then looks at the same tree he was aiming for before. He takes his hand practicing how he might extend his finger. Then looks at his target again. Giving it a try he extends his arm out firing a small bolt of lightning that scrapes the side of the tree he was actually aiming for. He lifts his hands in excitement "Grandpa. Did you see that? It actually worked!"

"Yea, I saw it. Excellent job," he gives some words of encouragement "Come here! Let's see your hands."

Nolly places his hands on his Grandpa's hands "What do you want to see with my hands?"

Grandpa feels his hands inspecting them and says to Nolly "I think it might be easier for you to use two fingers instead of one, until you gain control."

(Fun Fact: A lion's roars can be heard from up to five miles away.)
