Halloween

Halloween is a fun holiday. People dress up and go out to get candy from willing people. There are no rules apart from that.

But there are some jerks who make up their own rules, ruining many peoples' day.

I still dress up for Halloween at the age of 16. Recently, Halloween has been cold, which makes it difficult. I'm allergic to, believe it or not, the cold, meaning it's difficult. But I try to.

I have social anxiety. For me, even talking to friends is difficult at times. At Halloween, I feel safe. I can dress up in a costume from my favorite show, book, interest. ANYTHING I want.

But then while on Facebook, I found a post. I liked the post itself. The comments were horrible.

This year, I was thinking our family would pass out candy. Once again, it will probably be cold.

Then people started to judge 13 year olds for trick-or-treating. The post said something about giving teenagers candy on Halloween.

Apparently if someone looks 13 or older, they're too old. They can just get a job, at 13. Uh, yeah. Most jobs are available at 17.

Also, autistic people. I admire many people who are autistic for their cheerful attitude. Then people yell at teens (and adults) for being cheerful on a holiday. If they want candy, give them f*cking candy. Autistic people also generally have more difficulty getting a job, so don't tell them to just get their own money. Whether they are autistic or not is out of the question, by the way. If someone wants to be a kid, let them. Being a kid's more fun anyway.

There are people who hadn't celebrated Halloween until last year, there will be some this year as well. Let them experience this holiday, regardless of age.

The comments I read blame teens for not wearing a costume. Maybe they are poor and can't afford a costume. Maybe their parents are very controlling. Maybe they are spending time on school instead of a costume. Maybe they want candy, and they want to see other peoples' costumes.

Maybe they are brave enough to go to someone's door asking for candy at 30 years old, without a costume, and they want to look forward to this holiday.

Adults can be geniuses and want to enjoy life at the same time. Adults can celebrate Halloween like this if it's how they enjoy life. Don't assume you know everything about someone. The reason children deserve candy is because they're awesome. Some adults want to be just as awesome.

Someone wants candy, give them candy. This year I intend on trick-or-treating if it's warm enough. If someone tells me no, then I'll suggest they copy Charlie Brown and give me a rock. Even if it isn't candy I can laugh when I get home. Show my friends the awesome rock I got. I'd rather dress up and go door to door getting rocks than be told that I shouldn't do this at all.

I only wish for awareness, I do not expect people to change their minds. Please don't argue. Arguments are annoying. Thanks.
