ALYA'S POV

It's been 15 minutes since the surgery got done. Well, at least I've been awake for fifteen minutes. The cool breeze inside the hospital makes me shiver, but Miles' sleeping form on the bed makes me feel fuzzy inside.

I requested that we stay in the same room, and luckily the nurses obliged. Despite feeling fragile, and exhausted from having a kidney removed, I don't think I've ever felt better.

Miles stirs in his disheveled hospital bed, and turns to me as he wakes up.

"Hey one-kidneyed friend." He says smiling.

"Hey." I reply, smiling back.

"So, how are you feeling?"

"Different I guess. I'm not used to feeling this... tired I guess."

"Alya, I'm so sorry. I tried to warn you but-"

"Miles, don't be sorry. I'm glad that I did it."

He smiles at me again.

We spend the rest of the night watching some crappy sitcom, and making kidney jokes. He eventually dozes off again, and I do the same.

I wake up in the middle of the night, drenched in sweat. I've always struggled with nightmares, but tonight's was possibly the worst. I don't want to get into it, but it involved Miles, and those kinds of dreams hit me the hardest.

The dimly lit clock across the room reads a faint 2:14 AM. Damnit. I turn to my right, and Miles is still fast asleep. Then, I get an idea. I slowly push myself up from the surface of my soaked bed, and move it so that it's almost touching Miles'. I climb in, and ignore my heart rate monitor beat faster as I cautiously slip my fingers into his. This time, there's no nightmares.

TIME SKIP

I've spent the last week out of the hospital and recovering at home. Today is my first day back, and same with Miles. I've decided that I'm going to deliver one last secret admirer letter, and if nothing happens, then I guess I'll just need to move on.

Once I'm done with the routine of getting to school early and dropping the letter off, I wait outside the school for Miles and Jax. Eventually Miles' mom pulls up and drops them both off. I immediately pull Miles into a warm embrace, a friendly one obviously. Jax doesn't seem to think so because he wiggles his eyebrows at me while I'm holding Miles in my arms.

The bell rings interrupting our hug, and I head off to first period.

MILES' POV

Jax comes with me to my locker as I put my things away before class. When I open it up, a recognizable tiny envelope falls next to my feet. I thought Jax was done with these. I pick it up and look at him with a questioning expression plastered on my face.

"Jax? Seriously, I thought you were done." I complain.

He shuffles nervously.

"What?" I ask.

"It's just that um- I"

"Spit it out Jax."

"I'm not the one who wrote them."

"Jax! Well if you didn't, then who did?"

"Can't say."

"So, you know who's been writing them?"

"Possibly." He says smirking.

"Come on Jax, just tell me."

"Take that letter with you to second period, and I'm sure you'll find out soon enough." He says before turning away.

Well that was weird.

ALYA'S POV

First period breezed through as usual. Luckily this time there weren't any weird stares from Julie.

When I walk into the practice room Miles and I claimed for class, I'm surprised to see him grasping my letter tightly in his hands. Maybe he does care about them. I mentally prepare myself before walking closer.

"Hey." I greet him as I take a seat next to him.

"Hey." He replies, obviously invested in the letter instead of me.

"What is it?"

"Oh nothing."

"Miles..."

"Fine, it's just that, I think this is the last letter my secret admirer is going to give me and I still have no idea who they are."

Well that's a relief.

"Really? No one?"

"No. This might sound kind of selfish, but I'm going to miss these."

"Why do you care about them anyway? I thought you weren't looking for a relationship after what happened with... Julie."

I see him wince once I mention her name, and I immediately regret it.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"No, it's fine. That's actually the thing I'm worried about. What if it's her?"

"What?"

"I mean, what if Julie wrote it?"

"Not even close." I mumble.

"What was that?"

"Hmm?" I say, attempting to sound surprised.

"Alya, you know who it is. Don't you?"

"I- uh I..."

I hesitate before talking again. Am I really ready to risk everything for him?

A/N

HAHA CLIFFHANGER! Lol I'm sorry, I'm actually such a bitch. Anyways, I hoped you all enjoyed this chapter. I'm sorry I was unable to update as soon as I wanted to, but I'm actually really sick and I had to take breaks from writing just this chapter to throw up :/ I don't know exactly where I'm going with this story, or what I'm going to write next. I have a plot for the next chapter, but after that I have no idea where to go. I'm thinking this story will be ending soon, but I have absolutely no plot idea for what to write next. I don't know if you guys want more Milya, or some other Backstage pairing, but please just let me know if you guys have any ideas or suggestions (: Please leave comments because I love hearing what you guys have to say (even if you want to get me expelled). I hope you all have a wonderful day!
