The rest of the hunting trip was silent. The two dragons had caught four polar bears. Peril held two on her back that Icestar had to keep freezing repeatedly so she wouldn't burn them. Reaching the cave, snow was now blowing fiercly outside. They dropped the massive bears in front of everyone. Peril went to the back of the cave where there seemed to be old logs. She moved them carefully and started a fire so the others would style warm. Eating silently Peril barely touched her portion.
"I'm not hungry." She stated standing and heading to the front of the cave. She sat and watched to snow fall more slowly now. It was peaceful, almost like a dance. She wished to join the dancing snow. But the thought of Clay kidnapped brought her back to reality.
"Clay. I'm so sorry I failed you again." She whispered into the silent weather.
She heard murmuring from the others inside and then talon steps coming closer.
She sighed. "Icestar I'm fine." She said turning only for it not to be Icestar at all. But Abyss.
"Oh! Abyss. Hello." Peril greeted her.
Abyss came and sat next to Peril. She sat a little closer to capture the heat radiating off of her. "Are you okay?" She asked quietly.
Peril sighed and shook her head. "To be honest, no." She admitted.
Abyss nodded. "This 'Clay' dragon, why is he so important to you?" She asked.
Peril looked at her with her piercing blue eyes. "He's my..... mate." She said. "And I'm carrying his child." She said looking down at her abnormally large stomach.
Abyss gasped. "So that's why you're in a hurry." She said. "I'm so sorry Peril." Abyss said.
Abyss moved a little bit like she was uncomfortable. "Your fire scales. Maybe I can help with that." She said quietly.
Peril scoffed. "Unless you are an animus-" she paused and looked at Abyss who was smiling sheepishly. "No." Peril said dumbfounded. "Are you serious?" She whispered loudly.
Abyss gave a small nod. "I've never used my powers. I've never known how." She admitted. "But you seemed so helpless when you saw him in there and I didn't like that." She said.
"But you'll lose your soul!" She said.
"Little things." Abyss said. "They shouldn't damage me." She said. "I can be useful!" She exclaimed.
Peril smiled. "Only if you are ok with it though." She voiced.
Mulberry nodded. "I can do one for Icestar too." She said happily.
Peril thought about it for a second. We are closer than ever to getting Clay.
She came to a decision.
"Okay. Do it."
