Peril awoke on a hard bed. She sat up but groaned, rubbing her head.
"Take it easy. You hit your head pretty hard. Sorry about the hard bed, we really can't touch anything." Searsky spoke quietly. She kept her distance, like she was afraid of something. That's when Peril felt the heat that coursed through her veins. She immediately reached her talons up to her neck where her necklace was supposed to be. She sat up more and began to look for it, thinking that maybe she lost it.
"Don't try and look for it, it kind of melted." Searsky informed her.
"I need that necklace though! It's my only chance at being normal." My only chance to forget about the past. She wanted to add.
"When Inferno picked you up it touched him. Melting immediately. Normal? I know exactly how you feel about wanting to be 'normal'. But no matter what, you are you." Peril felt crushed. I'm a monster again. She turned to Searsky.
"Well I had a terrible childhood. You didn't even try to come get me! I killed thousands of dragons because of my curse of scales. Do you know how dragons saw me. Even after I escaped I was still treated a monster! You know nothing about me and you don't know what I feel!" Peril roared. Peril looked down and a tear fell, steaming against her scales. Inferno stood there, then moved so he was holding Peril against his chest. Peril didn't object, she just wanted a hug. "I'm sorry I yelled. I just lost someone very dear to me." Peril sniffled against her father's chest. She turned to Searsky and pulled her into the hug. She longed for a mother's love. A family in general. Now she felt better, but she still had to get to Clay.
"Sear- I mean mom." Peril started nervously. Searsky seemed to tear up at the sound of herself being called mom. "I lost someone I love and I need to get him back." Searsky nodded but didn't say anything. Inferno stood taller and turned towards the guards stationed at the doors.
"I want three soldiers rounded up, meet in the square when the sun is directly overhead." The guards nodded then scampered off. Peril was confused as to why her father seemed in charge.
"Peril dear, we forgot to mention. Your father and I are the rulers of the Firewings. Making you the princess and heir to our throne." Peril stepped back a bit. In the Sky Kingdom Scarlet treated me like her daughter. But here I am their daughter and this tribe is probably the most powerful tribe in Pyrria.
The most powerful tribe...
