Chapter 1: THIS WASN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN?!?

KAIYLLN ＊POV＊

I was so close to having the perfect day. My parents were going to go shopping for new school clothes and also new supplies, plus they said they had a surprise for me. Charlie asked if he could join but I just winked and rejected his request.

"But why Kaiylln!!!" whined Charlie. "I promise I won't laugh at the clothes you wear!" He held his breath trying not to snicker.

"Of course you won't." I retorted sarcastically. "You'll just have to go hang out with your other friends today Charlie!"

Charlie's mouth gaped. "What other friends Kaiylln? You're my only friend!"

'Yea right' I thought. 'You have so many girls chasing after you' I don't know why I was thinking this. Charlie was my best friend and I'm not supposed to think of him as anything else. But looking at his brown wavy hair, his bright and curious hazel eyes, and the way his lips looked when he smiled... STOP IT NOW! I physically facepalmed myself.

"Why did you do that?" Charlie asked curiously. "Were you thinking of something stupid again?" He smiled that smile of his when he can't hold in his laughter.

"Yea as a matter of fact I was. I was just thinking of how stupid you look today!" I retorted and smirked at him.

"Ouch." He said looking hurtful. "I know you didn't mean that Kaiylln! Take it back and I won't say a word about how much you love me to anyone!" He puckered up his lips and started making smooching noises.

I blushed almost immediately. "You can't be serious! You are the last guy I would ever imagine to kiss!" I blurted out.

"Yikes!" Charlie said jokingly. "I know that for sure. But I know you can't resist my pure sexiness." He then stood up and stroke a pose.

"OMFG!" I rolled around my bed laughing at his attempt. "You- can't BE SERIOUS!!!" I said in between laughs. Tears started to form in my eyes. Sometimes having Charlie around was useful.

"Deadly." He replied still in the same pose. "Why are you laughing?" He then saw the

tears in my eyes. "You ok Kaiylln? You're crying!" He sat down next to me and wiped at my tears.

I froze. His touch was so warm and sincere. I started to freak out and accidentally whacked his hand away. "I'm fine!" I said stubbornly. "I was just laughing at how pathetic you looked."

"Mhm! Girl, you know you were just drooling at my face." Charlie teased. I love it when he does that.

"Pssh. Yea right!" I shoved his chest which was hard as rock yet warm as the sun shining through the window.

STOP THINKING LIKE THAT!

He laughed as my mom came into the room. "Kaiylln! It's time to go SHOPPING!" My mom popped her head in. "Why hey there Charlie!" She walked into the room and gave Charlie a hug. She then looked at me with a glint of happiness and surprise. "You are gong to have so much fun Kaiylln!" She shrieked. "Oops! I almost forgot!" She took out a small box from her jacket pocket. She placed it in my hand and tapped it. "Happy Birthday sweetie!" She kissed me on the forehead and walked out of the room.

"OPEN IT!!!" Charlie screamed.

"Geez, Charlie!" While he pounced at my hand I twisted around so that he fell on the

carpet and belly flopped. "This is my present and I'll open it when I have time!"

"You could have told me that before you went and made me fall onto the floor!" He reasoned. "At least you have to open it when I'm around!"
