Chapter 6: Did I do something wrong?

Charlie *POV*

I honestly can't even say or describe what I felt. I wanted to kill myself for being such a fucktard. My life was getting wrecked... But I knew I had to do something. Just... I had to think to myself...

You have to face the cold hard facts... You don't deserve Kaillyn. She doesn't see you as anything more than a friend... My mind whispered to me.

But another side was forcing me to listen. But... You can change that by protecting her from that bastard. You may even become more than "best" friends by the end of your freshman year!

I honestly didn't know what to do or say... I mean like, WTF AM I THINKING?!?!

I laughed at my stupidity... Voice number one was wrong, I was going to change everything and I'll be Kaiylln's hero! Yep, that's what I'll do!

Sometimes... I just really didn't know what to do with myself...

Voice one said that I should apologize to her... So... Why not?

I texted Kaiylln.

I'm soo damn sorry for what I did yesterday! I... I just lost myself. I'll help you now! Just um... Call me when you et the chance.

I sat there, in my room and for a split second I just couldn't stop tears forming in my eyes. I wanted to slap myself silly for being and acting like a girl.

It's just sometimes... Kaillyn's laughter makes me want to hold on to her. Her tears make me want to cry along and kill myself for not being able to be there for her. Mailmen was special... I liked her.

My heart skipped a beat (Ah... How damn cheesy) when my phone rang and I looked that it was Kaillyn.

I answered.

"Hey," I said casually. "I'm sorry about earlier..."

"It's fine Charlie." I heard her reply. "I'm just glad you're not mad at me"

I chuckled. "Who said I WASN'T?" I teased her a bit, knowing she'll be terrified.

"Wha-?" I heard her gasp. "I thought we were cool!"

"Aww chill Kai, I'm still you're best friend, and I would never and could never stay mad at your cute little face for that long."

She whispered something inaudible.

"Huh? I couldn't hear you for a second." I inquired. "What did you say?"

"Hmm noting..." She chirped with fake... What's that word? Uh... Happiness?

"Ok fine!" I said to her. "Don't tell me you love me!"

Then silence filled up the room.

"You still there Kaillyn?" I questioned.

"Uhh... Yea!" She said somewhat concerned and worried. "Why don't we hang out sometime? Maybe catch a movie or something?" She suggested.

"Sure! Sounds like a date." I laughed when I heard her gasp. "I'm just KIDDING geez Kaillyn! You take everything so damn serious!"

"Well stop acting like an ass!" She argued back.

"Whatever honey. I'll be whatever you want me to be." I said my words filled with realism and truth... I just hoped it didn't show.

"Oh gosh Charlie!" Kaillyn shrieked.

"Just get ready to pick me up in an hour!"

"Ok fine..." I sulked. "I'll be there."

"Ok! Then I'll see you later!" She said happily.

"Bye." I hung up.

I got dressed in my usual attire. Red and white Jordans, plain white shirt, and some denim.

Let's play this game, mystery man.
