Everyone was passed out in their beds except Mark and I. We took it upon ourselves to sit alone in the corner next to a small fire we built and talked. Talking was something we hadn't done in a while, and it felt like I couldn't put it off anymore. Even if it wasn't a deep conversation, I felt like just speaking to him would make me feel better, and it did. My arm was rested against his shoulder as we spoke. It was a comforting support for me.

"Are you sure about this?" He questioned me.

"I'm confident. If I lure them out of the city they're going to spread and it'll be easier to get back in."

"This is risking your life, Arie."

"Would you like me to risk my life and most likely succeed or would you rather that we risk everyone's life and have casualties on the way?" I questioned him back. "You need to stop babying me Mark, this is my war and as much as you are involved, I've got to take control too."

"I know, I know." He mumbled as he threw his arm around me. While he head fell into his other hand while the elbow rested on his knee. A look of concern has never left his face in months, it's almost like his neutral expression now.

"I'll be fine, and If I'm not, you will be." I told him.

"Your baby?"

"My baby is only reason I keep fighting, because I know Jason would take them away from me. I'd just turn myself in and leave you guys free, but my baby will just be a piece of meat to him."

"I'll make sure you have this baby and it lives." Mark told my in a promising voice. His eyes started deeply in mine and I felt like I almost got lost for a second. For the first time in forever I felt really safe again. He was always the first one to step up by my side since I met him. I saw the way his eyes glistened. They were tired, but soft, and I could see all the love in his eyes. I almost wanted to kiss him, but he wasn't Jack, and that killed me inside a little because I love him too.

"I, will talk to Jamie tomorrow," I began as I tore my eyes away quickly before I trailed off into his eyes for too long.

"And I'll make a plan, for all I know it might be a while before we actually do anything. We might be stuck here for a few weeks. I spoke to him earlier and we may expand this place. Build tunnels and make a refuge for an survivors from the attacked cities."

"Will we be able to?" He questioned me back before readjusting his arms around his knees.

"Yeah, he said they could. This room alone could fit hundreds of us."

Suddenly I felt a jump inside me. Like a thump inside my stomach. I gasped softly and held my bump where I felt it.

"They kicked." I gasped in softly while looking at Mark with an excited smile. It then happened again. I took Mark's hand in mine and placed it on my stomach where they kicked. We waited a second and then it came again. A wide smile spread across Marks face, and he just starred at my stomach closely with admiration. I felt my eyes wail up with happy tears. I pulled the shirt up and watched as I saw a small bump appear every couple seconds.

"The first kicks." I happily commented while trying not to get emotional.

Mark put his arm around me and pulled me into a sweet embrace as we watched the moment happen.

Samaya's head suddenly jumped up, as she was sleeping on the other side of the fire. She got up and instantly made her way to my stomach. She sniffed it softly with her tail wagging softly and then licked it. She fell back onto her side comfortably with us while sniffing my stomach and breathing onto it sweetly.

"I can't wait to me the rest of the family." Mark told me with a gushy voice.

Family, I guess that's exactly what we are. I never knew what it'd be like to have one, but I guess I do now.
