We ended up not leaving the school, since it was going to start in a about 30 minutes. Evan joined us at Warren's truck about ten minutes after we left him.

"Did you actually finish putting the cups down? Or did you just stand there for as long as you could, to make it seem like you did something?" Ruffles asks him.

Evan shoves his hands in to his jean pockets, huffs out a breath, and says "umm... which one would you prefer?" He then cocks his eyebrow and takes a step back from his sister.

Ruffles face turns sour. "Really? Are you kidding me!"

"Relax, Marley! I'm just joking with you," he says between laughs.

"Dude, not cool." Warren says from where he sitting beside me.

"What? It's funny to see her when she's angry."

Cars have started rolling in to the parking lot and students start filing into the school while they were talking

"Someone's bound to have noticed it by now, " I say. And they have. The teachers that've  arrived are pushing students out of the school, not wanting them to come in and cause a bigger mess.

"So," Warren starts," are we staying or skipping?"

"Pancakes!" Evan screams once we've arrived at Dellys, the local breakfast place that every teen goes to when skipping school. "I really, really want pancakes! Chocolate chip ones, too!"

"We get it. You want pancakes." Warren says, exasperated.

"Yes!"

"How do you live with this," I ask Ruffles, pulling the door open to the diner.

"Pizza, did you forget that he's been gone for, like, forever?"

"Ah, yes. The quiet days." Warren sighs like it's been years not hours.

The hostess walks up with menus in hand, "you guys can sit wherever you'd like." I nod my head and scan the diner for an open table, when my eyes catch on something familiar.

My dad.

"Shit."

I poke Ruffles in the shoulder and tilt my head in the direction of where my father is sitting.

"Fudge on a crap sickle."

"What? What's worth using the cuss words over, Marley." Evan bends over so he's almost the same hight as us.

I glance up at him out the corner of my eye, "my dad is here."

"Oh turd balls."

Warren glances at me then points at the door. Getting his hint, I start walking towards the door hoping my dad won't see me.

I get a fourth of the way there, when I hear: "Aria?"

"Aw, shit, Im not gonna be able to get my pancakes." I hear a loud smack come from behind me.

I slowly turn around not really ready to meet his eyes. "Hi, dad."
