Chapter 7: Time travel part 1

"What do you mean we have to catch the Joker in the cemetery?" Robin asks and Batman says "He's messing up the graves, writing messages and he's building something too, it could be dangerous, Raven's staying here" "I'm going Batman" Raven says crossing her arms, M'gann and Artemis had gotten a very long speech "Fine, but only this once, you're still grounded" Batman says and they head of. At Gotham cemetery they wait until it's night and they see the Joker "Target spotted" Robin says and they move to their places to surround the clown "I know you're here!" Joker says and he laughs "And it's good too, does anyone want to know what would happen if your dear Shadow Raven never got along with Batman?", everyone is quiet, but a bat-a-rang hits the Joker's arms when he wants to activate the machine "Don't even think about it" Shadow says taking out two dagger "Ah you don't want to know what happens if you never make it up to the Bat?" "No" Robin says coming from his hiding place, then an all out fight breaks out, the Joker somehow having the upper hand and he throws Shadow against a gravestone "Then let me speed that up!" the clown says charging at Shadow with his knife, the girl however jumps to the side and Robin stops dead in his tracks seeing the two gravestones "Then I'll kill the boy wonder" Joker says and before Robin can feel the knife Shadow eyes the machine and M'gann gets the hint activating it.

A bright light blinds them all and when the light dims they're in the graveyard and everyone runs to Robin "Where are we?" he asks activating his computer "Okay more like when" Raven says and Kaldur looks at date "15 years into the future" he says, they hear talking and move over, hiding just out of sight and they see an older Bruce Wayne comforting a crying Dick Grayson who appears to be 29 "Why?" Bruce asks as the coffin is being lowered in the dirt, next to two all to familiar gravestones to Amber, she jumps out of their hiding place, glad the mask is hiding her eyes "Excuse me" she says quietly, but both males turn to her, Dick's eyes widening upon seeing the uniform, same with Bruce "What happened?" she asks and Kaldur walks over, mentioning the others to stay put "We were fighting the Joker, to prevent someone from being killed we activated his time machine and well here we are" he explains before Bruce can open his mouth "As for your question what happened" the elder says looking as they close the hole in the ground "Amber was killed by the Joker, stabbed several times before the building blew up, the Joker had already left though" he says and Robin has to be held back as Shadow starts tearing up "Where was Batman?" she asks and Dick says "He got the alert from Nightwing, but he was too late, he arrived to see a burning and destroyed building", Kaldur puts a comforting arm around Shadow "The city also lost one their best heroes, Shadow Angel" Bruce says and he looks at where the team is hiding "You guys can come out" he says, Shadow gets pulled into a hug by Robin who looks at his older self "Why didn't Batman know about it?" "They weren't on speaking terms, after Amber's secret ID was revealed to the team he pulled her out of it, so she ran away, living at the mountain, the last message that she had send him called for help, that the Joker was after her, the last time they saw each other was when she moved out of the manor" Dick explains, he looks at Shadow and walks over, Robin moving away as his older self pulls his best friend into a hug after kneeling down "But you can still change that, the Joker will still try to kill you, but you will have your friends" he says earning a slight nod "How do we get back to our time?" M'gann asks and Bruce says "This has happened before, we have to find a similar time machine, or build one to send you back, when it happened to us it took a week to get you all back".

Deciding there's nothing else they can do they all go with the two to the manor, where Alfred, although older, opens the door "Master Bruce, master Dick, I presume I have to get some rooms ready" he says seeing the group, but Bruce says "Only one of them, the guys can sleep in Dick's room, the girls can share Amber's older room", having nothing better to do after Bruce and Dick left on urgent business(patrol), Robin and Shadow head to the batcave while the others explore the house "The suits that aren't in use anymore" Shadow says seeing the outfit she's wearing next to a very different outfit "That outfit is awesome, looks complicated to make though" "Then don't, getting the materials is a very hard task" Batman says walking over to the two "Aren't you a bit too old to be fighting crime?" Robin asks and Bruce sighs "We had Nightwing and Shadow Angel, the city didn't need Batman anymore, I can't leave my partner alone, not after we found Shadow Angel the way she did, we managed to clean her outfit". Shadow puts her hand on the glass "Shadow Angel is me isn't she?" she asks earning a nod "After you moved away you headed to Central city to live with the Flash for a while, taking up a new name for yourself" Bruce says and he sighs "It was a shame that you were killed, it made Nightwing so much more like me", he looks at the suit and sighs. "So are you coming?" Nightwing asks looking at the two teens as Batman smiles slightly "Coming?" Robin asks tilting his head "Patrol" Batman says walking over to the car, the two look at each other and nod at the two older heroes "Wait, take this with you" Batman says giving Shadow a weird looking piece of technology "It's a communication device, we have a matching one here installed in the computer and one in the watchtower, if you need help or advice, just ask, but when no one else is nearby" he explains "I want advice how to make it up to Batman, he's annoyed at me and not to mention beyond pissed, even though only Artemis and M'gann know" Shadow says, but Batman says "Later, Robin, go with Nightwing".
