Calum sat on a low concrete wall facing the sunset around the back of the venue, his legs swinging. He had a cigarette dangling out of his mouth and was leaning back, his eyes closed. The sound of a door opening interrupted the tranquility. Opening one eye, he looked to his right to see Ashton walk out.

"That's where you ran off to!" Ash exclaimed with a giggle, jumping onto the wall alongside him.

"Ah-ha," Calum said in response, turning back around to face the sun.

"You're smoking again?" Ashton asked. Calum opened both eyes and turned to face him. He had his phone out and was staring at Calum with an incredulous look on his face.

"Yeah? I have one after every show."

"One. Not three," Ashton replied.

Calum snorted. "So what?"

"So what are you avoiding? Or over thinking?" Ash asked while he typed away on his phone.

"Nothing," Cal replied curtly.

"Doesn't take a genius to figure out something is up."

"That's a good thing for you," Cal muttered.

Ashton stared at him for a moment and shook his head. "You're acting like a dick and Lani isn't at the show. Did you she reject you or something?"

"Nope," Calum replied, popping the 'p'. He lifted his fingers to his lips and took a deep drag from the cigarette.

Ashton was silent for a moment while he came up with something else. "Did you guys get in a fight?"

"No."

"I'm out," he replied exasperatedly.

They sat in silence for a good thirty seconds when Ashton spoke up again.

"Michael wants to know if she got a new boyfriend."

Cal glared at him. "You gonna broadcast this conversation to the stage crew, too?"

"Shut up and answer the question."

He sighed and turned back to the warm sun. "Something like that."

"Is she on a date?"

"Bingo, you win a fucking toaster. Now leave me alone," Cal ordered.

Ash patted his shoulder. "I'm sorry, dude."
