Twisting the door knob open, I let myself in. I inhaled a sharp breath before gesturing Jack to let himself in with a bob of my head. He awkwardly entered, letting his eyes wander freely all around the house. "Cool place you've got here," He complimented, stopping his tracks to examine one of our monochrome edited family photographs that were hung on the dainty white wall.
I assumed it was Jack's first time to step foot into the house, since he seemed quite amused by his surroundings for someone who has been in our house before. "So, uh, what did you want from Tim, anyway?"
He abruptly took a glance of me before turning back to examining the framed family photographs. "He just wanted to play with my new FIFA, I guess. FIFA's a football video game, by the way."
"You've got FIFA 12?" I arched a brow at him, unable to say anything much more than a simple brow arching due to unbearable happiness overload. He even explained that it was a football video game. Who does not know about FIFA? "It's still what, the twenty eighth? I thought it was scheduled to be released two days from now! I've even gotten it ordered!" I didn't even notice how much I've raised my voice because of the pumping heaps of joy that was raging inside me.
He smiled as he turned to me and took the game out of his black backpack. He walked towards me and handed it to my reach before closing his backpack's zipper shut. He laughed before commenting, "Who knew you were such a gamer?"
"You, Jack, do not know a thing about how crazy I am when it comes to these sort of things," I detached my glued eyes from the game and looked at his blue eyes. He returned my comeback with a sly smile.
Being able to mask up the fact that Jack's brother was the guy Michael and I have been, more or less, bullying, for the past year -- I couldn't be anymore grateful. For a change, I got to hold FIFA 12 with Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshire on its cover art before the scheduled release date here in Australia.

"My brother, Luke, loves FIFA. Can you believe that?" Jack shook his head whilst both of our thumbs and index fingers aggressively pressed and manoeuvred the controls. Our attention were mainly focused on the football game that we were playing in.
I mean, I can't even name one guy I know who hates FIFA.
Checking the clock that was on the wall once in a while, I noticed we've been playing FIFA for at least two hours tops. Jack had advanced two points ahead off my three and I couldn't get anymore pissed. He shouted randomly whenever he sets a goal which leaves me with my grunting and groaning.
I was starting to get worried about Tim since when it came to the topic of video games, he was hell as sure up for it no matter what. Yet, he's already two hours and five minutes late to his meet up with Jack.
I hit the pause button and placed the controller beside me on the black leather couch. I took out my phone and dialled Tim's number. I faced Jack and mouthed, "Tim."
He shifted comfortably on the couch and arranged his dirty blonde quiff to its usual state. "Oi, mate, hurry home! Jack and I are already playing FIFA!" I went with a usual tease as bait. He never failed to fall for them which made my teasers very much interesting.
"No fair!" He whined before grunting and cutting the phone.
A smile playfully tugged around the corners of my lips as I tossed my phone to my side and taking up the controller back. "We gaming or what?" I faced Jack and wiggled the controller at him.
At the sight of my wiggling controller, he swiftly took hold of his and we started to play the game again.
Scoring two points and catching up on Jack's scoreboard, I stood up, raising the controller in triumph. "Yes!" I shouted, followed by unknown languages chanting. Jack shook his head slowly and placed the controller on the table.
The door suddenly jerked open, revealing a panting Tim in a white v-neck and light washed denim jeans and the maroon Doc Martens that I gave him. I had no idea on why I gave him a pair of Doc Martens that were the practical same to what I currently was wearing. "So you really started the game without me?!" He shouted, shutting his eyes in dissappointment, walking slowly to us.
"Didn't know your little sister's a total gamer!" Jack laughed while he bobbed his head at Tim as a greeting.
Tim widened his eyes and stared at the ceiling with an open mouth. "You have no idea," He shouted and slammed his butt on the couch beside me. He slowly faced me and sighed deeply before grunting.
Feeling guilty about how I've been acting towards my brother, whom I rarely see -- I flashed the controller to his face and he willingly took it and groaned, "Finally."
"I'll leave you two alone now," I stood up and raked a hand through my dark brown hair and walked over to the stairs to my room. "See you 'round, Jack!" I shouted, too lazy to look back at them.
"Funny, you've never told me your name," He paused the game and turned around to me, leaving Tim to roll his eyes at him.
"Her name's Maria and everyone calls her Em. Now can we continue with the game?" Tim boringly replied to Jack. I faced back to them and flashed them a small smile.
"That's me," I awkwardly stated before turning back to my route to my room.
Lucky for me, the topic of Luke or anything relevant to him didn't surface up in Jack's and I conversation. How weird it may seem, I think I was liking Jack; a complete opposite of how I thought of Luke.
I felt rather weird when he said he didn't quite catch my name. He even asked me if I was Maria a while ago in the porch. If I knew better, I'd think he didn't know what name to call me with.
I was lying on my back in my bed when I heard a knock on my door. Since no one ever bothered to come visit me in my natural habitat, I immediately knew it was Tim. It was nearly midnight and Jack might have already left.
"Hey," Tim cooed. He had his hands loosely in his jeans' pockets. He had his left foot in the back of his right foot making his feet looking twisted when he was leaned on the side of the door.
I straightened my back's posture and leaned on my bed's white leather headboard with crossed arms across my chest. "Hey to you, too."
He walked closer to the bed and when he sat on its edge to face me, his weight sunk into the mattress. "How are things doing?"
I knitted my eyebrows together and sighed. I faked a smile, even. "I rarely see you in a month. That's how things are doing." I wrapped the loose thread of my white bed sheet on my finger.
He sighed and pinched his nosebridge with his index finger and thumb. "It's complicated, Em." He said. His eyes were still tightly shut.
I looked at him and clenched my jaw before gulping in the building stress. "Mum and dad are on some business trip in Austria thinking that they've left me in my brother's good hands but no! They're completely unaware of the fact that they're leaving me with someone who's not even responsible of taking care of himself!" I didn't even notice I have been raising my voice but when I did, I soon brought back the calmness within me and stayed silent.
Seeing his face after my what was probably the most unexpected thing to say to my own brother made me cringe at my own actions. "Sorry, uh, I, uh, panicked," I shook my head quickly and numerously.
"No, no," He inhaled deeply. He opened his eyes and faced me. "You're right, you're right. God, I hate it when you're right," He broke into laughter and it was infectious that I found myself laughing with him. "I'll try to be a better brother to you, yeah?" He patted my knee and gave me a warm smile.
I squeezed his hand and managed a smile to breakthrough. "I won't let you down. I promise," He smiled though his brows were furrowed.
I'll hold on to that, Tim.
