Josie opened her eyes slowly and took in her surroundings.

She was laying on a bed in a motel room. There were several guns and open books laying around. There was rain running down the window by the door, and lightning lit up the room.

"Thank god you're awake."

Josie whirled around just in time for Sam to tackle her in a hug.

"Well, hello to you, too," she said, smiling to herself.

Sam appeared to have just gotten out of the shower. His hair was wet and he was only wearing jeans and an unbuttoned white shirt.

He let her go, but immediately bombarded her with questions--

"Are you okay? Does anything hurt? How are you feeling? Should I go grab some food?"

"I'm fine," Josie answered.

"Are you hungry?" Sam pressed.

"No."

"Thirsty?"

"Not really." Josie pushed herself off the bed and yawned.

"What do you remember?" Sam asked.

Josie rolled her eyes. "I don't have amnesia, Sam, I remember everything."

"Are you dizzy?"

"No, I told you, I'm fine. How long has it been?"

Sam swallowed. "Only a couple hours. Dean's on his way back here right now."

"What then?"

"What do you mean, 'what then?'"

"What do we do when he gets back? We're not just going to give up, right?"

"Of course we're not going to give up--"

"Good. What are we doing then?"

Sam pursed his lips.

"Well," he started. "There are no bones to burn. We can't get rid of the ghost without any bones. So I guess we'll just have to talk about our next move."

"Bullshit," Josie snapped.

"Huh?"

"I said, bullshit. We're not going to sit around having discussions over tea and cakes while Peter could be out there killing more people. If we're going to discuss something, we're doing to discuss it while we dig up those bones, even if we have to turn this whole town upside-down."

Sam's gaze softened, then he set his jaw and nodded.

"You're right," he said.

Josie's lips curled into a smile.

"I know," she replied. "And, by the way, I've got another idea."

"Josie, do we really need to hurt this poor man more?" Sam asked as they pulled up in front of the police station.

"He killed Peter in the first place," Josie said. "He's going to help us do it again."

"She makes a convincing point," Dean commented.

"Exactly. And who else would know where the bones were buried?"

Josie hopped out of the car, and Sam followed with a deep sigh.

The trio approached the police station in a triangle formation, with Josie leading the two boys. Somewhere along the course of the last few hours, she'd been silently declared Case Commander. Everything seemed to be her call. She was the leader, at least for a little while.
