8. Twins

"Haru?" said Rin as the person infront of him unveiled himself. Haruka had just gotten back from taking his solo walk around the town, and was surprised to see Rin doing the same, too.

"What are you doing here?" asked Haruka.

"I'd ask you the same thing, Haru. It's almost sundown. Let's go."

-AT HARUKA'S HOUSE-

"Makoto, what's this?" asked Haruna, sitting at the table for dinner. Makoto just got done preparing dinner for the others.

"It's green curry. Haru taught me how to make it."

"Ahh, it looks so good! Thanks for the food!" said Haruna. She took her very first bite of Makoto's green curry, which filled her mouth with delight. The look on her face showed obvious signs of love and appreciation, and she couldn't say anything else. Haruna was in her own little world now, ignoring everyone else but Makoto.

"How is it?" asked Makoto, curiously. Haruna looked at Makoto with a delighted expression on her face and giggled. She made him very happy, so happy that he just couldn't hide the red on his face.

-Knock knock-

"Must be them," said Makoto, making his way to the door.

"Ah! Mako-chan, we've got news!" Nagisa announced loudly. He looked over Makoto's shoulder and noticd Haruna eating Makoto's green curry. Rei nudged Nagisa, letting him know not to attract any attention.

"What is it?"

"Well, Rin-chan hasn't come back, and we've been waiting for him since forever."

"Nagisa-kun and I spent hours upon hours of hard labor and yet no one else came to support us. This is ridiculous!"

"Well, we should go find him," Makoto suggested. It was already sundown outside, and it would be too difficult to find Rin.

"Makoto, is something the matter?" asked Haruna, putting her plate in the sink. Makoto looked back at her and smiled, waving his hand at her.

"Nothing's wrong, Haruna. You stay here, okay?"

"Uh, okay..?" Haruna was unsure of what to say to Makoto, but agreed anyway. She sat back and watched Makoto rush out the door with Rei and Nagisa. She was left alone once again...

-AT THE TREE-

"This tree... I remember..."

"Before I left for Australia, the four of us stood here. It was also the time before our final relay together, huh?"

"Yeah."

"Haru, there's something that I want to give you."

"?" Rin motioned Haruka to wait at the tree while he left to go get something. This is odd. Rin's more of an arrogant character than a kind and easygoing one. What was Rin hiding that made him feel that way?

Behind a building, Rin was secretly texting Haruna (apparently he got her number back at Samezuka when they first met) to come to the tree where her brother and his friends stood in front of when they were younger.

Haruna Text 2: Fine.

That was easy. After all, they both agreed that Haruka never opened up to people but the water.

Haruna, you better be nice to him.

-IN THE STREETS-

Nagisa, Rei, and Makoto were running all throughout the neighborhood in search of Rin. What about Haruka? They weren't worried about him. They knew he would always return home safe and sound. What about Ai and Miharu? The two girls stayed behind at the school along with Ama-chan sensei. The three boys decided to split up now to make things a little more easier. Haruna, on the other hand, left the house without letting anyone else know. Rin texted Haruna the directions to the old tree to help her navigate through the town at a quicker pace.
