CHAPTER TWELEVE –
Sigtien woke up in a small crater that was about ten feet wide and about five feet deep, but he was also buried under broken branches from trees, and chunks of concrete from the building he had crashed through. He pushed the various amounts of debris off of him, and realized that his helmet had been knocked off from the crash and that he had cracked his skull against something: Probably what stopped him when he saw that he had left a skid trail from where he had crashed through the buildings second wall and kept going until he finally came to a stop. He looked around, trying to figure out exactly where he was and recognized the building...and the bodies that littered the ground all around him: He was back at the rebel base that he was at a couple of days ago when everything had just started going down.
Rustling was heard all around him, but it was too indistinctive for anything to really pick up with ease.
It wasn't until he heard the clicking of a charging handle and a hammer being pulled back before Sigtien was able to pick up that it was surrounded by UNSC and even a few remaining ONI personnel. He stood up, still holding his head from the splitting headache that was thundering throughout his skull. HE picked up his helmet, which surprisingly was still intact and inserted it back over his head. He went out into more of a clearing and saw all the bodies of both Covenant and Human soldiers, and felt nothing but dread. He looked up into the sky and saw the other Supercarriers and could only think of Jorge and the Corporal. That's when it clicked and he began to look around and found that the planet looked like nothing more than a wasteland.
What the hell happened here?
He checked his HUD and found out that he had been unconscious for the past three days. His mind went into a panic until he managed to wrap his head around it. That's when he asked out loud, hoping that whoever was pointing guns at him, "What happened here?"
"War." Spoke a voice that wasn't expected, and from around the building, Fangore stepped out and had an evil grin across his face. HE stretched out his arms and used them to point out all of the destruction, "Look at all of this beautiful destruction that I alone have brought to this world...isn't it just wonderful?" He looked back at the Demon in front of him from the corner of his eye, "I must admit, Demon, out of everything on this planet: You and you alone have caused the most trouble for me and my soldiers. You 'Hyper-lethal's or whatever it is that you type of Demons are called, are very annoying and persistent compared to the normal Demon's and humans. Always having to kill so many of my men, even if they have nothing to do with your mission. However, now it no longer matters...you have failed your mission, Demon. This planet will soon be glassed and then we shall move onto the next planet until there is not a single Demon or human left to stop us."
Grim watched as Covenant forces dropped out of the trees and came out of the bushes, holding UNSC weapons, only to throw them aside and pull out the plasma weapons that they preferred using. He looked back at Fangore and was seething under his helmet, "I will kill you before that happens, you fucking Dinosaur." He pulled out both of his knives and threw one at Fangore and then jumped to the nearest Elite and stabbed it in the throat and grabbed its rifle and began to fire it at Fangore, hoping he'll have more luck on killing him than he's had in the past.
Fangore knocked the knife aside, but began to take plasma fire and was surprised by that, and the actual speed of how fast he was actually able to kill his troops and went into cover. Not ready yet for their "final confrontation" he activated his active camo and ran further into the forest.
Grim wasn't sure if Fangore was still there, but he wasn't wanting him to leave, but when he kept taking fire from everything else, he had no choice but to turn his attention on everything else. He drained the rest of the plasma rifle's battery and then ran jagged between all of the crossing fire and with his knife, he began to claw his way through their shields, continuing to move in order to get hit as frequently and when he breaks through their shields, he plugs a round into the skull from his magnum.
