Road Trip

| Chapter 29

Ethan's POV

"GOD DAMNIT KYLE" Chris shouted, which woke me and the others up.

"Where is he?" I asked in a sudden, seeing as he wasn't here. Chris was hitting the sides of the bus.

"HE LEFT AGAIN!"

"Are you serious?" Nia asked.

"HE KEEPS DOING THIS!" Chris shouted.

"What the hell" Kiana said as she looked out of the bus.

Chris drove everywhere, and by 2 am, we declared him a missing person.

" I think we should call the cops and report for missing persons" Jord said.

"That's stupid. He's grown up. He knows what he's doing" Niah said, clearly agitated by what Kyle has been doing lately.

*vhmm vhmm*

My phone went on. A text. From Kyle.

"Don't try and look for me. The winds have changed and the trees are breezing. It is cold. It is dark, but in the distant path , there is light. Don't look for me."

Suddenly, all of the other's phones went off too. We all check them, but they all were different messages.

It seemed like a puzzle.

Of course. A damn puzzle Kyle. Clever fucking idea.

I'm not an easily irritated man, but what Kyle has been doing lately is childish

"I hate this." I said, "reply back, all of us."

A few minutes later, we all sent the messages . And a few minutes after, we already received the same text:

Under the palm trees, the roots are planted. The motel is dim and bright. The daisies are grown and wanted

I really wonder if he meant for the text to rhyme, but it seems like a puzzle. I looked up and Jord and Chris seemed busy as ever. The rest of us walked to them to figure what they were doing.

They were looking for all the motels in West Virginia, and any that was close by.

"I HAVE ONE" Chris shouted in excitement. A very colorful motel with two palm trees and a few daisy bushes.

"If he didn't want us to find him, why would he send us this clue?" Kiana asked.

"I don't know girl" Nia replied.

Chris and Niah switched shifts. Niah started the bus, slow as ever. As soon as she stepped on it, we were traveling at 50 mphs, which was higher than the bus could handle.

A few hours later

10 am, and we reached the motel. Kyle left at 12, and we got the texts at 3. He must have ran really fast to get here.

We all got off of the bus quickly. Kiana and Nia ran straight to the guy on the front desk thing. Chris, Adonis and I went to check on rooms. Niah and Jord went to get some drinks from a Soda machine. We were all so caught up with what Kyle has been doing lately, I kinda forgot about feeding and hydrating myself.

"GET US ONE TOO" I shouted.

"THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING!" Someone shouted back.

We knocked on every door, and gave up. We ran back to Nia, and as we got closer, we could hear Kiana shouting,

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE JUST LEFT" she shouted. She still cares for him.

"Mam, he left about half an hour ago. But he left something to give" and from that, he bent down, and gave Kiana a daisy bouquet .

"What the.." Nia said.

Something white was popping out from under one of the flowers. I went up to it and took it. A piece of paper saying :

I stole a car, so if you're gonna catch up with me, you better make it quick. P.S. next clue, "Harambe".

I hurried everyone back into the bus, and told them about the note, and almost immediately, Chris shouted "CINCINNATI ZOO!", and we all looked confused. "Cincinnati Zoo is where Harambe was before he died! LETS GO ITS IN OHIO! A FEW MILES FROM HERE!"

And just like that, we were off again. Kyle was leading us into a road trip. A fairly odd road trip.
