"Who are you?" I ask the boy as he sits alone in the snow.
"I'm Haku."
"I'm Aru Momochi. Why are you out here?"
"Because I like the snow." He smiles, but his eyes are empty, void of emotions other than pain and sorrow.
"I like the snow, too! But that's not why you're out here. You're not even wearing a jacket!" Then I remember, I'm wearing a jacket. I pull it off and drape it over his shoulders. "There. Much better."
He looks at me with wide eyes. "But what about you?" He asks.
"I can take daddy's jacket!" Then I lean in and put my hand by my mouth and whisper, "he's a ninja, he doesn't get cold." I lean back into my original position and grin.
"Aru. Who is this?"
I turn around to face the large man, "This is Haku! He's my new friend!"
"Where are his parents?" He asks.
I look to Haku who is looking at the ground.
"I don't have any." He says, sounding broken.
"Why don't you come with us? We can be your family!" I shout, excited.
He looks up at me.
"Sure, why not?" Dad says.
"Yay!" I shout, throwing my hands in the air and spinning around.
