"Haku! Aru! We're leaving!" Kizuna calls from the door.
"Hold on! I just need-- ack!" Aru shouts only to trip over her own feet and hit the wall in front of Haku.
"Are you alright..?" Haku asks, holding back his laughter.
Aru simply nods, an embarrassed blush rising to her cheeks.
When they all make it out the door, Kizuna grabs her father's hand and they start walking. First they visit the Hokage.
"Come in." The rough yet comforting voice invites. Kakashi pushes the door open and allows the others to enter before closing it behind himself again.
"Ah, this must be Haku and Aru," the old man greets from the other side of his cluttered desk, "our newest guests."
"That's right." Kakashi confirms with a nod.
After discussing the complexities of having rouge mist nin in the village, and possible housing arrangements, Kakashi and Kizuna leave, having to join their team.
"So as long as Kakashi and his family agrees, you may stay however long you'd like." The hokage informs. The two teens look at each other.
".. No, we should continue. As you said, there will be other nin that may come after us. We can't risk it." Haku says, Aru nods beside him.
"I see.." The Hokage looks down at some of the papers on his desk. "In that case, I have a proposition for you.."
----
The teens exit the hokage's office, contemplative looks on their faces.
"Are you sure it was wise to accept?" Haku asks softly.
"No... But what else are we to do? If we stay, death will be the least of our problems." She says, a strained look in her already tired eyes.
Haku nods sadly.
"We'll leave after the Chunin exams.." He says.
"Are we going to participate in the exams?" Aru asks. Haku shakes his head.
"We can't participate without a third member." He explains.
"Oh.. Well, we could look for someone, right?" She asks. He shrugs.
"We can try, but don't expect positive results." She nods.
