This story is loosely based off the TV Show True Blood. I've taken the characters and the setting but not the story line. I've brought back characters that died in the show and I've added some who aren't even in the show, but I hope you enjoy this story... please vote and comment.

This chapter has been recently edited by me through an amazing program called Grammarly; which not only corrects wrong spellings, it corrects wrong word choice, punctuation problems and so many other things. I think it's a great program and I would recommend that any other writers use it, Grammarly is like someone proofreading your work for you and you can correct spelling, punctuation and grammar errors as you go through it so if something is written in slang in intentionally spelt wrong you can keep it that way. This is not a promotion but I'd just like to comment on how great and helpful this program has been in both my personal writing and with college essays and assignments.

Scarlett's POV:

I was led in my coffin thinking, I'd say what my thoughts dwelled on but I'm really not sure to be quite honest, my un-named train of thought was interrupted when Bill, my father, shouted up to me

"Scarlett could you get down here please I need to talk to you about your birthday"

"Fine... just give me a second" I climbed out and looked at my bed, next my coffin; Bill said it was good to have a choice to sleep in a bed or a coffin but honestly I didn't mind either, I ordered the bed to appease him, and just to go the extra mile I made sure it was queen sized and all the linen is black – so as vampiric as possible.

Bill sounded so happy that his 'daughter' was turning 2000 tomorrow; he unofficially adopted me about three years ago when he went mainstream, I'm almost two times his age but I'm still a daughter to him. He set his progeny Jessica free last year and she went travelling; so far we've had postcards and or letters from India, South Africa, Canada, England, Spain, Cuba, France and Germany. All of which told us how much she missed us; but also how much so loved to be away from Louisiana; and that it may be home but she needed a break. Which I could understand; she was like a sister to me so she said it was right that Bill looked after me, she knew just as much as I did that if you wanted a father-like protector William Compton was the best vampire for the job, and that fact that he's the vampire King of Louisiana was just a massive plus, but it comes with more politics than perks, but you do get a lot of respect, which edges on fear, by being the King's daughter.

As I got to the doors that lead to his office I took a deep breath and then pushed them open. He was sat behind his desk smiling over at me. I used my vampire speed and rushed over to him and sat on his lap facing him. He laughed slightly smiling his usual bright and happy smile up at me, we had always been close - always like father and daughter but now it's sort of official.

"So what did you want to talk to me about then Bill?"
"Well, seen as your turning 2000 tomorrow..." his Southern-American accent a contrast to my somewhat international one; I had lived in so many places you couldn't really pin my accent down to one place but I guess you could say it was predominantly Northern American.
"...I wanted you to plan your party, with my supervision of course"
I sighed "historical theme? The 1800s?" He shook his head, well I don't suppose that having everyone dressed so similarly to the time he was turned would be a good idea... to many bad memories, or maybe good memories that were too painful to remember
I climbed off his lap and sat on his desk tapping my fingers across the deep brown mahogany as I thought. Bill began reading through and signing some paperwork systematically.

"How old would you say I'd been in human years Bill?" I posed as he sat going through his systematic procedure.
"I don't know. About 21?"  He said without looking up
"well how about a debutante ball?" The moment I said it I hated the idea, and I'm pretty sure that I sounded like I was trying to convince myself more than anyone else. Bill caught on to this and it made him look up at me
"you're not serious are you?" he said the look on his face supporting his question
"no, just getting your attention... erm... what about a... I've got it. I'll just have a standard college party, booze with a possibility of drugs and hopefully no deaths or pregnancies." He was nodding and agreeing with me until I mentioned death
"If your inviting vampires then make sure they have absolute control of their hunger; I don't want the authority to be on my ass about a load of dead, drunk and drugged up humans" He said as he stood up and walked towards a table that held a glass decanter and three glasses, obviously the decanter had True Blood in it but it helped keep up appearances of a rich, white man living in the south. He poured himself a glass and then brought it back over to his desk, sipping it as he sat down.
