Winry's POV

Darkness. That's the only thing I see. Everything is pitch black. Suddenly, I hear thumping footsteps. From which direction? That Im not sure of. It's getting louder and louder and all I can do is cover my ears as hard as I can. My heart is now racing. I started to scream but I hear no sound coming from my mouth. Out of the blue, I heard a voice call my name. It was Edward. I'm sure of it. Get out of there. His voice has an automatic effect on me as I found myself running forward. I just need to find Ed and everything will be fine. Don't leave us Winry. A strange soft voice spoke to me. Please stay with us. I had a sudden urge to stop and look back. The loud thumping sound stopped and a rare moment of silence occured. A weird mirror stands in front of me. Come with us. The strange voice said. Don't do it Winry. I hear Ed order me. But i have decided, I must face this thing to make it stop. I moved closer to it and to my surprise, I saw them: mom and dad. They were smiling. I reached out to them but as soon as I touched the surface, it turned into dust and vanished into vapor. I looked back and a swift flare of light flashed everywhere then everything became void. Edward! I managed to shout. Then I hear an intense scream. I guess it's calling out my name.

Al's POV

"Winry! Winry! What's happening in there?" I thump her room door as hard as I can. I was trying to unlock the doorknob for almost 5 minutes now. I even tried to use alchemy to create a spare key but nothing worked for that damned door. I sense there's something, some kind of a force, that makes it locked away. Think Alphonse. Think. "The window!" Right. I went out to the living room's veranda. Suddenly, I felt like there's something creepy watching over me but I don't see anyone at sight. I jumped towards her veranda and tried every ways to open the windows to her room. But, just like her door, it's locked away. "This is not good. I must tell Ed.", I muster to myself as I turn to Ed's room. To my relief, I saw him standing there.

"Al, will ya please shut up! Someone's sleeping in here." His arms now crossed.

"Ed! Hurry up and help me in here." I ran toward Winry's door.

"Why? What's wrong? What are you doing in front of Winry's room?"

So I explained to him how I heard screams from Winry's room and how I tried to break in with every ways I know but with no luck.

"Why didn't you wake me up sooner, Al!?" His confused expression awhile ago turned to rage and concern.

"It's not my fault that you sleep like a log."

"What did you say?"

"Never mind. Let's just think of a way to open this door."

"Hmm. If the door can't be opened, then let's just make a new one!" Ed suggested.

"I already tried that but even the walls are impenetrable. It seems like there's an anti-alchemy barrier that surrounds her room. Do you think, this is magic?"

"Maybe. But, it makes me wonder, she doesn't know how to control her magic yet. But this barrier thing that surround her room seems to be controlled."

"Are you suggesting that this is not Winry's doing?"

"That's just my hypothesis, Al. I guess someone who knows advanced magic is behind all this. And that person is somewhere near us."

"I guess you're right brother." I mumbled. "I sense the same thing when I was trying to break in through her windows. I felt like some watchful eyes are on me." I finished.

"Then, in that note, I shall find who that is. Stay here with W-"

CREAK. Her room door swung open.

Winry's POV

In just a flash, I was awake. I felt so weak. I manage to get up and sit though my legs were wobbly. Then Ed and Al came rushing into sight.

"What the heck happened to you Winry? We were so worried." said Ed, who's looking so troubled as he knelt before me. Al sat beside me as he pat my shoulder. I stopped trembling and my heart starts to calm down. I'm so glad to have them with me. They give me comfort when I need one especially at times like this.

"I just had a dream. A bad dream, I guess. Heh." I managed to fake a smile.

"Dream?" Al questioned.

"Yeah. But it's nothing. Let's not talk about it. See. I'm fine. So don't worry." She chuckled.

"You don't seem to be fine. You look pale and there's sweat all over your face. I'll get a doctor." said Ed.

Winry held his hands. "No need to call a doctor Ed. I'm fine, really. I'm just hungry."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." I answered.

"Okay then. I'll go get breakfast. Al, you stay here with Winry."

"I told you guys I'm fine. Just go with Ed, Al. He sure can't handle food for three, y'know."

"But-"

"No arguments please."

They had no choice but to agree. But before leaving, they barricaded the windows using alchemy. They rummage around the flat making sure no point of entry is open.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"We'll talk later. But for now keep yourself safe while we're away." Ed explained.

I watch them as they walked out of the room. I heard a cracking sound of transmutation. I guess they barricaded the front door too. I have no idea what they were up to but I'm pretty sure it's for the good of everyone.

Minutes passed by and I heard another cracking sound. This time it's defferent from a transmutation sound. It sounds like a car backfiring. Moments later, I heard loud bangs as if it's trying to break the door. The banging keeps on going which convinced me that someone's forcing to open the front door and it's not Ed nor Al.

Ed's POV

The sky glows cheery bright today when I shift woozily back to my left hand which holds the soup bag, and leaning my shoulders against a nearby telephone booth to hold myself properly upright.

"Need a hand brother?" said Al, who's also having a hard time carrying the shopping bags.

"Don't ask me that. I think you're the one who needs more help here." I said cockily.

"Whatever you say Ed. Let's just hurry back home. Winry's waiting for us." Al blurted.

*Time skip*

We set off across the corridor of our apartment. As usual, the hall was empty. No one stays here at the moment except us. With the fact that the caretaker is gone for a business trip gives us relief for we don't have to explain to anyone what were the noise we made this morning.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

The loud echoing noise broke the silence of the hallway like a gunshot. Without further ado, Al and I dropped all our shoppings and rushed to our flat. Panting, we reached the end of the stairs just to see this strange looking man standing in front of our door.

"Who are you!?" I asked the man who is wearing a black hood and a mask with snake-like eye slits. He holds a thin, long stick on his right hand.

"Avada Kedavra!" The man swish his wand and a jet of green light came swiveling our way, but we were able to dodge just in time. I was about to retaliate when the man, with a loud cracking sound, suddenly disappear out of thin air.
