It's half past five am and I'm being thrown into an old looking truck. My bags and Pickles already occupy the cab. It's cool inside but that's okay because of the warm air that vents it's way in every time Aidan opens a door. He hands me a blanket and since it's too early to even function. I take a nap.
I drift off into a deep blissful darkness.

~(later)~

I'm awoken by some bumps and meows. Mr. Pickles and frantically pawing at my face which it looking at the floor board. My bags are cluttered and Mr. Pickles honestly looks like he might shit himself. I can see it in his eyes...

"Stop! Car. Needs stop!" And before it even fully stops I'm busting out the door with Pickles in my arms.

I placed him on the ground and he just  there. For a really long time. Mr. Pickles sniffed the ground then ran.

"Wait! Pickles...!" I screamed after him and like a cat he continued to run away from me. I was surprised with how fast his fat body could move.

"Jacquie?!" I heard Aidan call behind me, but I zoned him out following my speedy blob of fluff running away from me.

I didn't care what the man behind me was saying, I was wanted to catch my cat. Surprisingly we ran for a while. I heard the car racing, but Aidan didn't drive on the grass, he stayed on the road while shouting at me through the window. At least I think he was shouting, I wasn't worried. The further I went the closer I got to the tree line where Pickles dove into.

The only thing I thought of was Alice and Wonderland.

~(later)~

I sat on the bar stood with Pickles zipped up in my hoodie. He ran half way through the forest then finally let me pick him up. There wasn't any sight of Aidan nor did I hear him. So I walked on where ever my feet took me.

My feet took me to a small town with thick humidity. So I walked into a diner with Pickles hiding and by the way he is not moving, I figure that he is sleeping.

"Hello." A cheer voice called from in front of me.

"Hi. um-"

"What would you like?"

"Oh."

"Need a menu?"

Wow, this lady really is... excited?

"Sure." I mumbled.

"Drink?"

"wa-"

"Okay." She wrote something down and scurried away back into the kitchen area.

The tv was old and blurry in the corner of the room. The static crackled across the screen and the picture looked almost animated, but the news was playing.

'County Montgom-."

bzz

'south-west Texas.'

crackle

'memorial service for lost daugh-'

Then, there on the screen. I saw a picture of a girl. Her red hair was striking and her blue eyes pierced the screen with intensity but her soft laughing smile took away from her icy stare.

The picture of the girl made my heart throb. Next to her was a woman with dark hair bobbed at her neck. They were smiling together.

The picture was blurry... But I was sure that looked exactly like me.

The announcer started to talk again.

'Disappearance-'

crrrrackle.

'no body was found. After 48 hours the authorities claimed that she was dead. It's been 3 weeks but we are still looking for a body and the community is persistent and not giving up. Her mother, sadly, out of stress has di-'

My small gasp sounded like the loudest noise in the room.

The tv went blank. The grey strings pulled and dug their way across the screen. My chest was heaving and my heart raced at an unnatural pace.

"ma'am" the cheery voice called, catching my attention. "Ur order?"

"Oh, eggs?"

"mhmmm." She wrote something into her note pad. "How would you like those?"

"Over easy, with a side of bacon."

"okay-y." She dragged out the 'a' sound and went back into the kitchen.

I walked over to the tv and lightly nudged it with my hand. Something inside of me called out to the girl on the screen, the girl who I think is me.

But I'm not dead. I... I'm here.

What was that girl's name?

My hand was under Pickles butt, making it look like I was rubbing my own pregnant stomach.

Pregnant....wasn't i-?

I turned around to hear the clank of my plate being put on the counter. The girl was about to walk back into the kitchen but I called out to her.

"Hey. Hi. Um-"

"Yes" She smiled at me.

"Where am I?" I asked.

A questioning look crossed her face. "Burnsville." She said slowly like I couldn't understand.

"Texas?"

"Texas."

I thought for a second... My foot was tapping the floor and I nervously bit my lip.

"Thanks." I said to the girl but she was already in the kitchen again.

I will wait here for Aidan to find me...

I need some more answers.
