I stare at Finn wondering if I heard him right. His cheeks are pink and he smiles at me, looking right in to my eyes.

"What?" I ask.

"I said you're beautiful." Finn says again with even more confidence than before. I set the sandwich down and stare at the floor. I haven't been called beautiful since... well since I was.

"No, you don't need to say that." I say quickly.

"I know I don't.... why would you think that I need to?" He asks looking so confused. Am I high? Am I dreaming? Am I in a coma? This stuff doesn't happen.

So I just kind of sit there and try to stutter out something, anything. That's when Ryder comes back in and sits across from us at the table with a big smile on his face. Finn smiles back and im still left their shocked.

"So Finn, are you going to the football game this Friday?" Ryder asks him. I look to Finn and he looks a little confused.

"I thought football was on Thursdays?" He asks.

"That's soccer." I say and he looks even more confused. "Oh I get it. Soccer is your football. Football is like the American football."

Finn shakes his head looking a whole lot less confused and smiles.

"I mean, only if you guys are going." Finn says with a smile, but is looking at me.

"I mean I'm not a sporty guy, but Ellie loves going to games!" Ryder exclaims. I whip my head around to look at Ryder who is smirking at me.

"Perfect! Ellie and I can hang at the game!" Finn says.

"Perfect!" Ryder says while clapping his hands together. Finn smiles a huge smile at me and I smile back.

"I don't know, I don't go out all that much." I sigh. Finn shakes his head.

"Well tonight you are because I really want you there." Finn says. I bite my lip and look into his pleading eyes.

"Okay fine." I say. The two guys beam with excitement just as the bell rings meaning it's time for the last period of the day. We get up and I start to put my laptop away while Ryder waves goodbye and hurries away. I expect Finn to go too but he waits behind me looking around at the cafeteria. I smile to myself before turning around to walk with him. As we walk down the hallway I hum to myself.

"So what class do you have next?" He asks me.

"Study hall, thank god." I say with a laugh.

"Hey I do too! Is it in the library?" He asks and I nod making him more excited. Why is he so happy to spend time with me?

"Why are you hanging out with me? For real this time?" I ask. He groans.

"I already told you why, because I think you're great. Simple as that." He says.

"Yes but it's like social suicide to hang out with a freak like me." I say with a laugh. But he doesn't laugh.

"Oh my god Ellie you're not a freak okay?" Finn snaps back at me. I look at him surprised by this serious tone seeing as he has been happy go lucky all day. We sit down at a Table together and before he can even look, I cross my arms over my stomach so he doesn't have to see it.
