Smiles P.O.V.
I refuse to lose Asia just like I lost mother. I should've listened...
*Flash back*
"Stay here or else." Momma said.
Back in those times like today people believed people like me were a meance to society. So men would go looking for people like us to go kill. I lost my dad to this nonsense when I was first born. A trustworthy friend of his ratted him out for a piece of bread. How low is that? He met my mother working as musician. Right away from the gate she could tell he wasn't like anyone she had met before. That's what made her fall in love with him. Both of them knew the dangers of a immortal being caught with a human, but they reassured themselves they could get away with it. Apparently they weren't good enough at hiding their secret or else I wouldn't be telling this story.
"But they'll find me!" I said frightened.
*Foot steps approaching*
She looked around nervously then faced me again. "No I won't let them."
However it was too late.
"There she is." One man said.
"Hey who are you hiding in there?" Another man said furiously.
Momma couldn't even lie to save her life.
"No one. I was talking to no one."
As silence fell between them, I could feel her eye's fixed on the closet door.
"I'll just go see for myself."
I couldn't take it anymore. I emerged from the closet and told him to get away from momma.
The man chuckled. "This is what you were hiding from me?"
He looked me up and down then just laughed some more.
"Please don't hurt him. I'm sorry I lied to you. Please!"
"Bitch shut up." He said slapping momma hard across the face.
*Momma falls helplessly to the floor*
I couldn't believe my own eye's. Momma tried to regain her balance, but the man slapped her again. In fact, the man slapped momma much harder this time that she began to draw blood from her mouth.
*Coughing*
I winced at the sight of blood.
"You see that." The man roared. "Your mother is a liar and oh do I hate liars!"
I looked at momma unsure of what to think. She starred back at me trying her best to hold back the tears from running down her cheeks.
"Well." The man said out of nowhere startling me. "Don't you hate liars?"
"Yes."
"Yes you hate liars?" The man said with a creepy smile. "What do you think should be punishment for someone who lies."
"I think they should die, because lying is bad." I said smiling back at the man thinking I had won him over, so he would leave momma and I alone.
"I like this kid." The man said to the other man who was standing there quietly.
Then the two man began to go deep into conversation for a bit.
*Momma began sobbing hysterically*
"It's gonna be okay momma." I whispered hoping that they couldn't hear me, but just as I did that they turned their attention to me.
"Hey what are you doing?" The man I had talked to earlier asked.
"I, I-"
"And don't lie to me." He said squarely.
I took a deep breath. "I was telling momma everything would be okay."
The man began to smile as if he was going to burst out laughter. "Kid your mother is the liar." He began shuffling through his coat pocket for something, and with all seriousness once he found what he was looking for he said, "So she has to die. Say goodbye kid."
"Goodbye momma."
The man pulled back the trigger, and momma stopped crying she just layed there with a blank expression.
"Momma?" I called out.
The other man almost looked sorry for me when he said, "She's not coming back."
The words hit me hard and I began to cry.
The other man said, "Your free kid. Think of it as your warning."
Then they left carrying out another conversation amongst themselves about what they were going to eat for dinner, and how many children they have at home waiting for them to get back. While I sat there thinking of the last thing I said to my mother. Which turned out to be untrue.
