<Nora's POV>
---

I awoke in a panic after hearing the truly evil whisper of my roommate, Jilly, "the spiders are coming." Due to my deep hatred of spiders, when I finally awoke, I flailed and thrashed my arms violently with a high pitched scream. After I calmed down, I saw Jilly standing above me with what seemed to be a paper plate in her hands and a smug grin from ear to ear.

I puffed out my bottom lip, glaring up the green haired girl who was snickering to herself, "What's the big idea?" A sigh escaped my lips as I pulled myself up, pushing her out from in front of me. I ran my fingers through my hair, pushing back my bangs and got a brief look at what was on the paper plate, "Who's that for?"

Immediately following my question I reached for whatever may be the contents of plate only to receive a burning and stinging sensation on my hand. In response I let out another high pitched scream and began to frantically shake my wrist to try and releave the the pain. I lowered my eyebrows and puckered my lips in an attempt at making a pouty face, only to end up looking like a fish. That had been ran over. by a lawnmower. multiple times.

Jilly laughed, switching the plate to her left hand and placing her right on her hip, "I just made cookies. It just came out of the oven so be careful." She tilt her head slightly, making sure to smile at me mockingly.

"Be careful, hmmm?" I frowned as I cupped my hand, "It's a bit too late for that, wouldn't ya say?". I shoved the minty blue sheets off my lap and jumped off the memory foam twin sized bed, making sure to flick Jilly on the nose in the process after pulling her close for a hug.

Her free hand flung to her nose, "You know I hate it when you do that... And I'd appreciate if you could be quiet for once in your life sunshine. I've got a major headache.."

"Geez Jilly.. another one? Sorry but I couldn't help but to laugh at your face, ah-hah! You shoulda seen it!" being the forgetful type my voice had
gradually been rising in volume and by the time I'd finished speaking , when I had thrown my arms up dramatically, I had not only hit Jilly in face, but I was also practically screaming. As soon as I realized I had hit her I hastily drew my hand back and let out an awkward laugh. "Heh.. Whoopsies.. You alright?"

"Ungh- I think so.. Since it's your birthday I'll let it slide. Nora, d'you think that you could at least get me a tissue?"

When I turned and handed her a tissue from my bedside table I noticed the bottom of her left sleeve stained with blood... Her favorite purple sweater stained with blood.. and it's all thanks to my clumsiness.

An awkward silence started to settle in, but I tried my best to break it, turning back around to face her, "So I'm 21 today! Are you gonna go out drinkin' with me?" I threw my arms over my head and stretched with an overly drawn out yawn, letting them fall back to my sides.

"I don't know... I find alcohol sort of bitter.." she spoke softly and stood up, turning to look at me. She brought down the slightly bloody tissue to her side, letting out a defeated sigh.

"Oh! Your nose bleed is gone! They usually last half an hour or so, it's nice to see that this one didn't," I smiled brightly and pointed to the trash can which had two completely bloody tissues sitting in it already, "You ca-..." I paused, looking at the two tissues, "When did those get there? Hey, Jilly... You know... You should really get that checked out" I began to ramble as I fell back into my green beanbag chair. I looked back to where she was supposed to be standing and felt her brush past me with the plate of cookies. I watched her rush out the door growling out a response
"Im fine." With a puzzled expression plastered on my face I slowly arose and focused on at least five bloody tissues that had fallen out of Jilly's sweater sleeves. Sighing I followed Jilly outside into the clean living room, still in my navy blue pajamas. She set the plate of cookies down on the coffee table and made her way into the tiny kitchen, making sure to throw the tissue she was carrying in the mini trash can. I made my way towards the bar and sat down on one of the stools, leaning on the counter,

"Whatcha doin'?" I asked, pretending to completely forget about the small incident that just occurred to avoid any awkwardness.

"Hm? Nothing..." She opened up the dishwasher and began to load it full of the dirty dishes that were waiting to be cleaned in the sink, "Just loading the dishwasher..." She cleared her throat and furrowed her eyebrows, "But tonight when you go out, call me if you get too drunk, alright? It's not safe nor is it legal to drive home intoxicated."

I rolled my eyes and leaned back in the redwood stool. "Of course, I'm not that stupid." I whined and jumped out of the chair, jumping over the couch and nearly falling off. Sitting up quickly, I grabbed one of the cookies that were practically sitting there and begging me to eat them and shoved a handful into my mouth, savoring the taste as bits and pieces fell into the carpet. My mind then wandered back to the fact that it was my 21st birthday, I can't wait for tonight, it'll be the best night of my life... Right?
