Amy's POV

Drea should be here by now. She said she would meet me at the hospital for my appointment. My appointment is in ten minutes, and she's no where to be found. I really need her with me today. I impatiently tap my foot as I wait for her. Each minute that passes is excruciatingly long. I take my phone out to check the time, and as I do, I get a call from Drea.

"Hey Drea, where are you?," I ask as I answer.

"I'm sorry Amy, I can't make it today," she tells me.

"What do you mean you can't make it?," I exclaim. "You said you'd be here."

"I know, but I got a call this morning asking if I could come in for a job interview at this psychology office that I really want to work at. I couldn't just say no," she explains.

I sigh. "Ya, you couldn't have."

"So you're not mad?," she questions.

"No. Go kick ass at your interview," I tell her.

"Thanks," Drea says with a chuckle. "And tell me all about your appointment later."

"I will."

"Ok, I got to go now. I'll talk to you later," she tells me.

"Ok bye," I say.

Drea says goodbye, and then I end the call. I sigh as I put my phone away. I understand why Drea can't be here, but I still really want her here with me. I don't want to go through this appointment alone. I frown as I rub my small baby bump. Then an idea pops into my head. Maybe I don't have to go through this appointment alone after all.

"Umm I'm just gunna go to the washroom," I tell the receptionist as I get up from my seat. "Please tell Doctor Murphy in case I'm not back in time."

The receptionist nods, and gives me a small smile. I thank her, and then I leave the waiting area. I rush down the halls, and make my way out of this part of the hospital. I go to the part of the hospital that I'm used to. The one that I work in. I get into the elevator, and press the button to go up to paediatrics. I get off on the floor, and start rushing down the hall. I go to Alex's office and knock on the door, but no one answers.

I sigh, and continue to look through the halls for him. I glance into every room that I pass by. I ask the nurses where he is, but none of them are able to tell me an exact place. I start to give up until I see Alex walking out of a patient's room. He says something to the patient's father with a smile. The father returns the smile, and then closes the door behind Alex. As Alex starts to walk down the hall, I rush to him and tap on his shoulder.

"What are you doing here?," Alex asks as he turns around to face me. "You don't work today. And why are you so out of breath?"

"I was running around looking for you," I explain.

"Why? What's wrong? Is everything ok?," he questions, and I can hear the concern in his voice.

"Everything is fine. It's just that I have an appointment today, and Drea was supposed to come with me but now she can't. I'm gunna be having my first ultrasound today, and I didn't want to go through that alone, so I came to find you," I tell him.

He smiles. "When's your appointment?"

"In like five minutes."

"Amy, I'm working right now," Alex says, lifting up his clipboard. "I can't just leave. I have patients to take care of."

"I understand," I mumble as I rub my stomach. "I just thought I'd ask."

Alex sighs as he looks at me. "How long is the appointment gunna take?"
